  1. Round 4: Dedicated to our fellow SQ B777 pilot, LeeCH

In the meantime, the SQ B772 decided to come out of hiding...

    IPB Image

    Closer....louder....

    IPB Image

Dedicate this to all RR Trents loving 777 pilots. :p

Here I am waving like an ape on steroids and they didn't notice... <_<

Imran, your EK making her way in...

  2. Thanks Norman. Thought I might make things a little more interesting. It was nice to see a pilot doing his walk around.

Sorry Seth, I could get the ang moi to turn around. I was waiting for the SQ B772 when I saw them boarding already. <_<

    More coming later tonight. :)

  3. Good one Ricky. Can't see any QF domestic in your pics though.

    Last time I was there, I caught QF's B767-338ER (VH-OGD) there.

Didn't know that the Thurderbird-ish uniform extended across staff of all Air NZ link flights as well.

Arrggh... should have spotted at WLG to complete all the NZ series

Cheers S V. As I was there for a short time I did manage to get 1 QF domestic. Also I did wait long enough for a QF B763 to come in. All will be posted soon. :)

I was hoping to get some Origin Pacific but found none. Have they decreased their fleet size? I haven't seen many of them for a long time.

The new uniform is for all ANZ staff. Having seen the new uniforms, I don't seems to mind but I still feel the hat a little weird. The pilot uniform also looks plainer. The bands on their coats are now silver rather than gold?

  4. Round 3.

'I heard a rumour that my paycheck ain't far away now...maybe it's here...'

    IPB Image

    'Maybe here?'

    IPB Image

    'A little higher?'

    IPB Image

    'On the propeller?'

    IPB Image

    'In the sky?'

    IPB Image

    'Right...fly first, money later!'

    IPB Image

By the way, this little guy seems to have found it's way back onto the taxiway. Or did it?

    IPB Image

Maybe it spotted this... Raj, you may be right!

    IPB Image

    More EK?

  5. It is quite common for MH, CX, TG,SQ to appear at CHC when there's a fog at AKL. WLG on the other hand is too small to handle anything beyond the size of 767-300ERs.

I've only heard of one or two occassions last year when some of the carriers was diverted due to heavy fog. It's quite unusual for heavy fog to hang around AKL into the afternoon. Unlike WLG where it happened, something like every two days at one stage last year?

So you Aucklanders, please inform me if there is any heavy fog coming.

  6. Ricky, Check the FLight Schedule before you go Spotting NExt Time..On Certain days u get a few widebodies..Like the T7 from Osaka and Also ANZ 744 which goes to LAX..Check it out..Go only when there's Interesting Airlines Coming in..

Hey Where is all the Military Actions?? C-130,B757 Mana Man??

I checked the schedule but I couldn't stay too long so I decided to go early afternoon to catch the main widebodies. Korean B772 is not coming back to NZCH until summer. Most B744 flights are early morning or evening I think.

I did make a quick trip around to try to catch some USAF aircrafts but found none. Guess they are all away in the South Pole. What do to?! ;)

Okay, Round 2. Thanks for all the comments so far. Hope you are enjoying them.

Close up on the AeroClub. I hope to join them one day when I have more $$$.

    IPB Image

Instructor: "Turn left onto the next taxiway"

Trainee: "Turning right onto....err...what did you say again?"

    G'days:

    Off to another domestic destination:

  7. Ahaha,

With all the ATR's u get at Christchurch, You Make me Jealous..

Take em. I don't mind a tiny bit.

Only time when I hope to see other airlines coming in is when there is a heavy fog in NZAA. I have heard of MH B772 diverting to NZCH last year during the fog but I was in uni at the time.

  8. Hey ricky, wondeful man..So finally u decided to go..

Man, Looks at The Amount of ATR's..BTW nice shots of the ATR's..

Would Love too see More of them in AKL rather than those Beechcrafts..

    Looking Foward for More.. :)

    What Camera u usin??

Cheers Raj. Having seen your spotting photos I figured it's only fair that I contribute something down south.

You want more ATRs, I want more widebodies! I wasn't there for very long but long enough to catch a few widebodies.

I'm using Minolta Z1 by the way. No money to get DSLR, although very tempted. Thinking of getting S3 when it's out and the price is lower.

    More coming. B)

  9. Being the last day of my term holiday and all, and having so many of you going spotting I decided it's time for me to go get a smell of Jet-A fuel before going back to study. In NZCH that is... :D

    So here goes...

The usual domestic traffics in NZCH: ANZ B733 and ATR72

    IPB Image

    IPB Image

    IPB Image

    And some foreigners:

    IPB Image

Leech, please don't park so far away...we don't bite.

    IPB Image

Before Imran starts going off with his 'MANA EK???', here...it's delayed by 20 minutes by the way.

    IPB Image

That smoke by the side, it might have been fire training. Must be fire training season if you ask me.

    A few more to come...slowly. :p

  10. Sneeze...

Air Asia parked together on the tarmac of the new KUL's Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT)

These photos were taken about 7 hours after the Prime Minister of Malaysia officiated

the opening of the new terminal.

Currently Air Asia is the main user of the terminal, thus you'll see only AK aircraft there. :D

    Ricky,

The tarmac closer to the tower is the "International" side

where you can see some people in the terminal

(they are actually queing at the Immigration desks..)

So for planes that are leaving for international destinations the next day

will park here for the night... ;)

Thanks for the information Uncle Norman. I always wondered how they separate out the domestic and international passengers. Now I know. :D

And thanks to you, Azahan and Emperor for all the great shots. And of course my respect for all the guys working the in tower so hard at night. :)

  11. I agree with the comment why it takes 2 years and not 2 months. E-ticketing is certainly not something new. Having said that, it has proved itself with many airlines around the world.

Take NZ for example. It has never been easier to book and pay for a domestic flight as everything you can do online. In some ways I think it will also attract more potential passengers.

Believe it or not, there are some people at home clicking around on their internet everyday and if they happen to see a good deal they may very well consider it. I have known people who have taken a quick holiday just like that.

If I were MAS, I would at least get e-ticketing up and running for domestic flights as soon as possible.
