Robin 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2007 (edited) I am thinking to take SQ or TG on Premium Economy class to LAX. I never read any trip report on this class before. Can someone advice me whether it is worth of money to take this class? Any different the service between this class and Economy? Keith T 2 Report post Posted May 15, 2007 (edited) The SQ Executive Economy product is only offered on the A345 nonstop service. There is no regular economy on that flight. You will have to fly via TPE or NRT for the regular economy product. The non stop flight comes with a 5% surcharge. AFAIK there is no difference in service with regular economy. OTOH you get a bigger seat (extra 2.5" width and 5" of legroom) which from all accounts is v comfy and offers a generous recline. You also get a self serve bar where you can socialise with other pax. There are also less seats than the one stop service so it feels more cozy and private. I think TG's premium economy is offered as a higher cabin on top of its normal economy product which is also offered on their LAX service. Not sure if there's a difference in service but it could be more expensive if it's priced as a higher class over normal economy, rather than just a surcharge like SQ's product. I've never flown either TG or SQ in premium economy but I've experienced BA's World Traveler's Plus product which I feel is a great compromise between comfort and cost. I now choose to fly WTP on sectors like SYD-BKK and SYD-SIN (BA doesn't fly to MEL alas) where it's too short to make Business class worthwhile but for a small extra over economy I get a comfier seat in a smaller and more private cabin. Not to mention being served first and being amongst the first to get off the plane. For such a long sector like LAX, premium economy is the minimum for me. Definitely worth the extra. Robin 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2007 Thanks Keith. Apart from the Seat Pitch, any other services been offered to Premium Economy pax? Such as lounge, amenities etc. What about food?
Keith T 2 Report post Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) Thanks Keith. Apart from the Seat Pitch, any other services been offered to Premium Economy pax? Such as lounge, amenities etc. What about food? For SQ - AFAIK, nope. You do get a self serve bar and you can check in at a special row at SIN (row 4 IIRC - but not relevant if u're connecting I guess) but that's it. Try to get a seat in the mini cabin (the first few 3 or 4 rows). Oh and you get booked into S class which credits as 150% on some *A FFPs (eg Miles and More, but not Krisflyer alas). The nice seat is worth it for such a LONG flight though. Or go for business class. Edited May 16, 2007 by Keith T
