Naim 6 Report post Posted August 17, 2009 Aug 17, 2009 Plane skids off Dhaka runway DHAKA - AN AIRCRAFT bound for Delhi skidded off the runway at Dhaka's Zia International Airport Monday morning, disrupting flights in and out of the Bangladeshi capital, an official said. Airport chief Saeedul Hasan Khan told AFP that Jet Airways flight 271, carrying 121 passengers and 10 crew members, was preparing for takeoff to the Indian capital when it skidded around 3.5 metres off the runway. 'After line up before the engines were about to open up for taxi, the plane skidded off the runway,' he said, adding that there were no immediate reports of any injuries. 'All flights have been shut down for the time being.' The incident happened at 10.40am (0340 GMT, 11.40am Singapore time) local time. He said an investigation would be conducted to determine what caused the incident and the Boeing 737 aircraft would be removed later Monday. -- AFP http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNews/Asia/Story/STIStory_417864.html
