  1. 2. Tony deferred aircraft deliveries NOT because there is no space (bull s#1t --> KLIA has a lot of apron space, especially around MTB/Satellite) BUT because HE cannot afford the bloody A320s.

Just head over to the LCCT at night, when all the A320s are back for nightstop. You have an average of 9 to 10 of them arriving per hour from 10pm onwards. So much so that now there are parking bays on a taxiway (Lima to be exact). That is after positioning 3-4 a/cs in the hangar. It is no easy job repositioning 20-30 a/cs every night bro. You have to be working there to feel the pinch of not having enough parking bays.

  2. Regarding these 'new' AirAsia A320s, would it be possible for you KUL spotters to note which flights they are operating when you see them so we can get the hex codes tied up?

I strongly suspect that hex 750272 is 9M-AQE, the former Indonesia one but thus far been unable to confirm it due to lack of sightings. For some strange reason the hex is also pinging FY flights so there could be an FY aircraft with a miscoded transponder set to 750272 as well. These are the latest captures of 750272 if anyone can ID them please:

There is another new AirAsia hex code on the scene now as well, 75027E. I suspect this could be the former Air Berlin A320 D-ABFX, msn 4917 which left European shores on 15 Nov enroute KUL. I have no info on the new Malaysian reg of this one - surely you guys must have seen it by now and can fill us in? Logically it would be 9M-AQF but this is assigned to a future new build A320, msn 4969.

Latest captures of 75027E for identifying please :

  3. SHAH ALAM: A pilot and his assistant cheated death by making an emergency landing at a mangrove swamp in Kg Assam Jawa, Kuala Selangor near here after their aircraft developed mechanical problems.

Kuala Selangor police chief Supt Mohd Taib Ahmad said in the 3pm incident, a Socata TB-10 Tobago GT aeroplane piloted by Abdul Rais Saad, 45, and his assistant, Parvinder Pal Singh, 21, was on its way back to the Subang Airport.

The aircraft owned by ESB Aeroclub Subang was flying around the Sekinchan area when it encountered problems, he told Bernama.

The pilot managed to contact the Bukit Aman Control Centre Operations Room to inform them of his position.

Upon the emergency landing, the two managed to save themselves from the aircraft, which was buried up to the cockpit in the mangrove swamp.

"Both the victims walked about 500 metres to a prawn farm near the crash site before being assisted by farm workers," he said. Police brought them to the Tanjong Karang Hospital for examination and treatment, he said. BERNAMA

  7. So an hour plus shut down due to weather (cannot quibble too much with mother nature) resulted in a near 13 hours delay at KUL ? :pardon:

That particular one hour plus occured circa 4-5.30pm. Don't forget that the a/c is not only doing the RGN sector, many other sectors before that. I believe not only AK had this problem on that very day.

  8. It was not the rain that did it. It was the weather that did so. Airport had NO landings for over an hour and many a/cs that were enroute had to take diversion to PEN/JHB/KCH while waiting for the weather to clear up. Trust me the number of diversions were huge on that day and having to continue the next sector after that (which is already delayed) and the other remaining sectors of the day, many of the aircrafts would have arrived at 6/7AM the next day. There were many flights yesterday that went with a P in the callsign. :drinks:
