    M5212_2746.jpg

It was hot while waiting for Smokin' Bandit to complete the display...

    MMLIM_2642.jpg

and non-military stuff... notice the buckets while taxying...

  2. TK, looking at the second photo in your sequence, the tube also seems to appear in the same position on the port side. I think it is part of the side-looking airborne radar system.

Have just checked my photos from LIMA09. They show the same system fitted to M71-02.

Very nice photos again. Must get down to Subang sometime.

Laurie, I think what TK meant was the 'pipe' installed just above the wording "MARATIM MALAYSIA" on starboard,

    but not on port side.

  3. Flee.... you should wait for another hour as Grizzly-4 took-off at 1200, an hour after she taxied to Airforce base,

about the same time the C17 landed....

Yeah... worth 4-hour wait today, the first 2hrs was "in the dark" as I don't have a scanner, only after 1000 that we can monitor the movements...

We were very lucky as OZ435... C-17 did a go-around before landing, as she came as a surprise...

    SZB17Apr12-2213.jpg

Waited for an hour as "predicted" by TK, proved right.... and our minds were frantically trying to decide to where to position ourselves as we were unsure initially where the Grizzly going to take-off from..... and initially she were offered Rwy33, as she emerged from Zulu...

Luckily she declined.... and proceed to Rwy15

    SZB17Apr12-8221.jpg

We were too late to move to another location (thinking she might go all the way to Kilo... where the furniture shop would be the best, if not the small hill..)... then we heard she'll take Hotel.... right in front of us...

    Just nice for butt-shot...

    SZB17Apr12-8249.jpg

and... look... both sides no more roundel...

    SZB17Apr12-8254.jpg

and... a short unedited FullHD video from D7000

    & that's TK's at 0:21

    ....

and yeah... lucky for TK too.... as ex-Mr Trump posing for the camera for a few minute before went off for a short 20min spin to 10000ft

  4. The Grizzly-4 taxied to Airforce base on her own power for the welcoming ceremony...

Shot from far & highly cropped..

An Israel IAI-1124-A Westwind from Philippine, RP-C5880.... has that Flying Doctor logo on the fuselage

    SZB15Apr12-2083.jpg

note: Still waiting for timing of the Grizzly-4 joyrides tomorrow..

  5. BTW Norman, I forgot to mention that I was more fascinated by your dancing captions than the propellers! ;)

Hahaha..... seems that I've chosen 'stabilise' when uploaded in youtube, and what youtube did was to

stabilise the shaky video images, and make the 'stable' captions to dance.... huuu..... :fool:

  6. wow, not bad!

    Thanks AbahAtuk :)

Well 1/30 sec is probably even better as panning blur is also more realistic.

I think a monopod will do as it eliminates vertical movement. For real pro effects, you will need one of the very, very expensive SteadiCam products. These have gyros to stabilise the camera - you can see them in use by the touchline cameramen on BPL matches.

I need ND filter attached to go lower than 1/50s yesterday... already at max aperture of f/22... hehe...

As for the steadycam..... they're very expensive!... Even the simple flycam that can take the weight already

can buy you a dslr... :)

  7. Great shots! I Is that N788LS in Airod's hangar(0:47 in the vid)?

Hrmm..I guess it is cancelled. Its flight plan to Male is not on flightaware anymore..

Thanks MIR..... need some dslr-video stabiliser next heheeh....

Not sure about the B737 in Airod, probably that of Sand's but too far out to make out.

As for the Air Australia... somebody tweeted that she was at Skypark the night before so probably left earlier...

  8. Went to SZB hoping to get the last Air Australia aircraft, scheduled to depart at 1400 today...

But no luck .... waited from 1215-1520... :(

Anyway... these are some of the catch within that time frame...

    high rollers on-board?

    szb-1919-2a.jpg

doing one circuit out from Airod....

and on the way back, stopped for a shot of what is left of the B742...

  9. That would be a non-standard phraseology, which shouldn't be used by both pilots and ATC. At that time it could meant 22400, which is confusing as well.

This is the incident that change the ATC phraseology to the current format "descend two thousand four hundred".

From all the previous altitude calls to descend by ATC... "TO" were omitted as well.... and was correctly report back by the crew,

that was the standard at that time I think, except that the 2400' was mistakenly read as "TO Four Hundred"... and wasn't corrected by ATC... :(
