Got this news from Naim's tweet & this online news this morning.... so sad..
RIP to the 2 crew members..

Norman, won't you be at LIMA 2011 on 1 Dec?
Yeah, the only way to cover this is to get an press invitation from Emirates!
LIMA '11 starts on 6th Dec.... So should be in Anjung Tinjau by the 1st.... hehehe
but how I wish to be at Weather Station....
-
Arrival time looks good, but Dec is always 32L, thus unfriendly location, except for taxying shot from Anjung Tinjau...
Departure time not friendly....
from spotter point of view...

Sad that only Pos Malaysia commemorated the event with stamps. The aviation industry failed to organise any event to mark this historic milestone.
Pos Malaysia in collaboration with DCA... in fact the graphics were from the DCA team...
-
Some of the photos on the first day covers and stamps are courtesies from MWingers...

Thanks Capt...
This one taken about two weeks ago...Mike November..TK, is that u?

*I still struggling how to remove blown highlight from white top fuselage...anybody can help?
Try to underexpose (-ve EV) a bit when shooting at midday... and then recover a bit the shadow areas in post-processing.
Yup... TK flies with winglets now... & so does Radzi...

Spotting trip?
Spotting was in the agenda....
Thank you KC Sim for accompanying me and the lengthy multiple sms's
on directions how to get to the beach using the EW13 & bus #89
It was just a short & brief almost 3 hours of afternoon spotting on the beach with
KC & HonKit
I missed the Shanghai Cargo as it arrived simultaneously with the SBS #89...
Anyway... my session started with this dugong's arrival
No longer in KC's favourite list.. only in superb light condition..
I like souped up aircraft... especially a B763 with winglets...
HonKit was delighted with this 'normal livery' speedbirds minus all those stickers..
Cute classic B735...
and my catch of the day....
The short session ended with the delayed arrival of another dugong... but light was turned off by somebody
.... I'll be back...
-
Great shots KC.... love the background for the Air France...
So 20 is active now?... Probably will be in SIN this Wednesday... let see if I can make some times on the beach...
-
Thank you guys...
Are those Extra 300's and the Christian Eagle from MSAF too? Great shot uncle..
I think the EA300L's and Christen Eagle are privately owned, but they're sanctioned under MSAF,
most GA's registered themselves with MSAF... paramotors & RC fliers as well...
in fact MVPG (early local flightsim enthusiasts group) was present during the formation
of MSAF... unfortunately MVPG didn't get the official approval of forming the club by ROS..
so MVPG wasn't included ...

a few more...

Some more shots...
that's the control tower
and crabbing for landing 23..

Some of the aerobatic display on Saturday that I managed to capture...
Birds... steel & feather
-
Thanks for the kind words....
The publicity was a bit lack for this event... even my Malacca-based friends didn't hear about it...
Something need to be done for the next event in 2013..
however I've posted about it in our information sub-forum
A minor correction there:-
9M-EAJ is an RV-6A instead of RV-9, an experimental semi-aerobatics aircraft which belongs to Systematic Aviation Services (Mr Ismail Ashari is the owner of SAS). The first owner was Mr 'AJ', great aeroplane with glass cockpit, autopilot and GPS equipped.
Excellent job Norman, I was in Malacca on saturday but didn't know the event until yesterday........
I wished I was there too .......
Thanks for the correction... always confused between these two...
but EAJ had a minor mishap that day..
Great GA pics! You don't need to pay landing fees in Malaysia right? Or so I heard.
Thanks Rob... No landing fee for flying club registered aircraft in all Malaysian airports nor they've to pay for ATC,
but I guess it's free landing to all aircraft too on unmanned airstrips ... I'm not sure about this.
Apart from the 1:1 scale models above, they do have some smaller scale with RC....
this RC blimp is from Indonesia
and of course.... an ATR72-500... homebuilt
however... this ATR crashed into the bush just after takeoff
It was spotted by paramotor flier some 6 hours later... and retrieved by SAR team
...

I was at Kg Tengah Airstrip, Sg Rambai, Melaka on Saturday 11th June 2011

Congrats! Norman, the photo is very nice, striking color contrast yet pleasing to my eyes.
Thank you Sir.... it was shot using only my compact Canon S95...
didn't expect any special so I didn't bring my dslr that day... <_>
