  1. The link from Straits Times of Singapore says little else this morning, but the YT video is dated yesterday

    Possibly 9V-SWJ? A B773

    EDIT: Okay, it's 9V-SWB

    http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/singapore-airlines-plane-catches-fire-on-changi-airport-runway-no-injuries-reported

SINGAPORE - A Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane caught fire on the runway at Changi Airport on Monday (June 27) morning, after it was forced to return to Singapore due to a fuel leak.

The Straits Times understands that the plane was operating flight SQ368, which departed Changi Airport Terminal 3 for Milan, Italy, at around 2.05am on Monday.

One of the plane's passengers, Ms Lee Bee Yee, 43, said she detected a faint whiff of what smelled like gasoline about two or three hours into the flight.

"The pilot subsequently informed us there was a leak, and that the plane would have to turn back to Changi Airport as it did not have enough fuel for the journey," said Ms Lee, who runs an e-commerce company.

According to Ms Lee, the plane made an emergency landing Changi Airport at around 6.45am. Shortly after landing, the plane's right wing caught fire.

"The blaze was quite fierce and we waited for around two or three minutes before the fire engines arrived," she said.

"All the passengers were surprisingly quite calm."

Photos taken by Ms Lee showed firefighters spraying foam to put out the fire.

All passengers subsequently disembarked from the plane at around 7.20am, she added.

The Straits Times has contacted SIA for more information.

  2. And the latest of attempts to pin the crash on anyone else but Russia:-

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/mh17-recording-of-cia-agents-conspiring-to-bring-down-flight-ridiculed-after-errors-expose-it-as-russian-propaganda-10455957.html

MH17: Recording of CIA agents 'conspiring to bring down flight' ridiculed after errors expose it as Russian propaganda

As tales of high-stakes espionage go, it is a bit more Carry On Spying than John le Carré. An audio recording purporting to be two American CIA agents conspiring to bring down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 has been ridiculed online, after a series of embarrassing errors exposed it as poorly made Russian propaganda.

The seven-minute recording is presented as being a series of bugged telephone conversations between two secret operatives, but the stilted greetings and cumbersome dialogue suggest that both men are reading from a script and are unfamiliar with the English language.

  3. Most of the times when I travel AK is the cheapest. Around RM150 return or at most RM200. And I love their 6am from KUL and 11.30pm from SIN. I used to prefer 3K only because of their departure from satellite.

Lucky you. I can never seem to get anything below RM250 from them. At one point it was only RM6 less than MH.

TR's for me - RM150 or sometimes less.

  4. fire in the cargo hold:

KUALA LUMPUR: Fire in the cargo hold forced a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight to make an emergency landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sunday evening.

Singapore Airlines flight SQ425 from Mumbai to Singapore, carrying 190 passengers touched down in Sepang at about 3.55pm, after reporting a "technical error".

Fire and Rescue Department officers were despatched to the scene to assist in moving passengers off the plane before opening the cargo door.

“The fire had already been put out by plane’s fire fighting mechanism when it landed,” said Selangor Bomba operations chief Mohd Sani Harul.

  5. Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 Crash: Whistleblower Gets $47 Million For Revealing ‘Truth’

According to German detective Josef Resch, a whistleblower has come forward with information about the fatal 2014 crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in Ukraine. The information makes the source eligible for a reward of $47 million.

  6.

Flight MH17 was shot down by a BUK-air missile, according to Russian aircraft expert Vladimir Babak, Het Parool reports.

Babak made this statement in a report of the German broadcasters WDR, NDR and the Suddeutsche Zeitung, which was published on Tuesday. According to Babak, who designed many Russian fighter jets, it is not possible that the Malaysia Airlines flight was shot down by a Ukrainian fighter jet, as Russia still claims is a possibility.

Russia claims that it is possible that the Ukraine shot down the Boeing 777, as there allegedly was a Ukrainian Sukhoi-25 fighter seen near the airplane shortly before the disaster. But Babak, who designed the Sukhoi-25, says that this is impossible. The fighter is designed to fly low, at a height of only a few kilometers. It can only fly higher for a short period of time. If the Sukhoi-25 had fired a missile at an altitude of 10 kilometers, it would have just crashed to the ground.

According to Babak, it is also impossible that other fighter jets could have downed MH17. So called air-to-air missiles would only have damaged the Boeing, and the Boeing had been completely destroyed while still in the air.

In the report, residents of the area state that they heard the sounds of a BUK-launch directly before the disaster. “We heard a bang, then a hiss, then a bang in the sky and then an explosion.” an anonymous witness states in the report. Babak does not claim to know whether the BUK missile was fired by the Ukrainian government or by the pro-Russian separatists, as both camps had such missiles in their possession on the day of the disaster.

  7. Azizul's link is of the so called confession of a Ukrainian pilot as revealed by the Russian media.

It may well be premature to blame anyone for this but all I'm seeing is Russia coming up with one after another stories that try to implicate Ukraine. Fighter jet image debunked, and here comes this one. I wonder what's next.

  8. This is actually upgrading and reopening of the 1983 Sri Subang railway branch which was abandoned when pax traffic and operations were moved to Sepang in 1998, and an addition of some further KMs to reach the Skypark terminal. The old line used to terminate right by Terminal 1. The line was used to primarily transport jet fuel from Port Dickson.

MH370: Pilot the chief suspect in case of foul play

    June 22, 2014

After more than 170 interviews, the criminal inquiry cleared all others on board, including first officer Fariq Abdul Hamid, London's The Sunday Times reports.

Police have not out alternative causes, such as mechanical failure or terrorism - they simply suggest that if foul play is involved, Captain Zaharie is the likely perpetrator. He is known to have installed a flight simulator in his home, and police investigators now say he had programmed flights out into the Indian Ocean that involved landing on a small island airstrip. The data had been deleted from the simulator but police were able to recover it.

    I wonder which small island...

  10. Navy scouring Bay of Bengal again for MH370 after GeoResonance claim

Bangladesh Navy has mounted a renewed search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in the Bay of Bengal after an Australian exploration company claimed to have traced its debris.

Two ships – BNS Bangabandhu and BNS Anusandhan – began scouring the sea from Tuesday night, Navy Director (Intelligence) Commodore Rashid Ali told bdnews24.com on Wednesday.

Geophysical survey company GeoResonance on Monday said it had spotted pieces of wreckage in the Bay of Bengal and that it should be investigated as potential debris from the Malaysian plane.
