  1. Countries go to war over resources and in the name of religion. Unless Malaysia is hostile to the US, US don’t have interest or intention to have conflict with Malaysia else UD DoD and States Department won’t had approved the sales of A/F-18D to RMAF. Strategically, Malaysia is more likely to have conflict with Indonesia, Thailand, Philippine and China.

Isn’t the IFF function is to prevent friendly fire? After Iran F-14, it would be foolish for the US not to safe guard against friend turned enemy.

    :drinks:

I know that Malaysia and US is in a good term right now. If not, there won't be an airshow by the famous Thunderbird of the USAF. That why I've wrote "IF".

If I'm wrong, please correct my statement, an a/c with IFF is identity by code number right? Each code number is represent for either military or civilian a/c, type of a/c and country of origin of the a/c. So if IFF is an US allied a/c, eg thailand, will the missile on board TUDM F/A-18D fire even if we do have conflict with them?

  2. Why RMAF wanted to target USAF? Can RMAF Mig-29 and SU-30 target at Russian? It is the function of IFF to prevent friendly fire. With the exception of nuclear capability, what other function RMAF want A/F-18D to have? If RMAF A/F-18D is 5-10 times downgrade then the a/c of USAF/USN/USMC, mean it is equivalent to F-5E? Why RMAF still bought them, other ground attack aircraft not available? With RMAF armory, A/F-18D is formidable air to air, why restricted to air to ground only?

    :drinks:

Yes, there is no reason why RMAF wanted to target USAF but "if" we are at war with US or any US allied, TUDM F/A-18D can't shoot any of the planes.

F-5E and F/A-18D is totally 2 different. Even with downgrade version, F/A-18D is much more better version then those F-5E.

I did not said that TUDM F/A-18D is restricted to air to ground only. True, F/A-18 is a formidable air to air fighter a/c, but the D model is primarily operated in the night attack and FAC (Forward Air Controller) roles.

  3. So The US didn’t restricted RMAF F-18D function? What Rakyat was told by the ex-pm was a lie? :finger:

    :drinks:

Don't think so. Base on what I hear, TUDM F/A-18D can't even lock on to fire on any US allied planes. Plus do you really think that US DOD will give TUDM the same spec as the USAF/USN/USMC F/A-18D(even it is a delivery mistake). Malaysian military critics said that TUDM F/A-18D are 5-10 times downgrade then the a/c of USAF/USN/USMC.

The only reason why TUDM acquired that a/c was the "all weather ground attack capability". That is why only 8 a/c are in service with TUDM not 18 a/c like MIG-29N and SU-30MKM.

  4. Of course this will cost more money, and a few will get rich. :finger:

It is better then TUDM upgrade those MIG-29N/UB. There is where "a few" will get rich. Rather spend to upgrade the MIG-29N/UB, it is better to get newer/ better a/c then those MIG-29N/UB...

10 years? Does this make MIG the shortest operational a/c in TUDM's inventory?

Remember in 2004 when I "stumble" upon TUDM's Open Base day in Kuantan and the highlight of that day is the acrobatic show by 5 Migs. 4 formation and 1 solo. After witnessing that performance I wasn't particularly impressed with the Thunderbirds' performance.

BTW the 2 MIGs that went down, both were due to engine failure right?

Yes mokhzani, MIG-29N/UB is the shortest operational a/c in TUDM's. Base on what I hear, this is due to MIG-29N/UB that RMAF acquired is an old version of the MIG-29 series (still using old materiel to build TUDM's MIG-29), but TUDM pilots fly it over the limit of the plane. The airframe of this MIG-29N/UB is not strong enough to withstand the "crazy" maneuvers made by RMAF pilots. That is why the Australian air force pilots call the TUDM pilots "skillful but crazy". You also have witness how those pilots maneuvers their a/c right? To be not impressed by the Thunderbirds' performance, those MIG pilots must have made some awesome maneuvers. Other thing is, the current avionic for this MIG-29N/UB is way to advance for the plane to handle coz they have been upgraded many times since 1999.

That is why TUDM should decommission those MIG-29N/UB rather then upgrade it(it would be waste of money to maintain this a/c just by upgrading them). With the 26 multi-role a/c(SU-30MkM and F/A-18D) that TUDM have in their inventory, I thing it is still not enough to defend the whole of Malaysia. TUDM's BAE Hawk 108 and 208 is out of the question coz it is specialized on short-range close air support and ground attack rather then on air defense. What TUDM really need is another interceptor/multi-role type of a/c(Eurofighter Typhoon, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, Dassault Rafale, JAS 39 Gripen or MIG-35) to replace those MIG-29N/UB.

  5. Correct me if I'm wrong but the earlier message send by the on board computer of flight AF 447 to Air France Maintenance show that the aircraft indicating failure in the electric circuit and loss of pressurization. Then the French investigator are saying that the plane do not break apart in mid air and the plane struck sea surface on belly?

This is weird? 2 different statement. Are they covering up for something?

  6. Straight down!!! How can this be? Forgive me if I'm wrong but if the plane went straight down to the sea, can the 51 bodies be recover intact?

One of the episode of air crash investigation (which episode I can't remember) a plane crash straight down to the sea, and a tin was found crush flat at the sea bed near the wreckage of the plane. The investigator of that crash said that the plane hit the sea like hitting a concrete wall making the tin become crush like that.

I'm a bit shocked that the French air investigation announced like that. :shok:

  7. FINAL DESTINATION?? Scary! You can't seem to escape death it seemed...

At one time, the Final Destination movie make me afraid of flying because I saw that movie 1 month before my trip to Europe. The first thing that run in my mind before my first 744 ride was, "God, plz don't become my trip like the Final Destination Movie...." Very scary...

About the lady, well it's her time to go now. Like Kenneth said, we all can't seen to cheat death. No body can't change it....
