  1. If you're a person who is worthy to become a cadet pilot, do it on yr own merit, abilities and qualifications and please don't harap for "tips" and all that crap....

    Good luck anyway !

A good pilot will not limit his option. He will seek advise from anyone before he go to new destination. He will do his homework. He will listen to his subordinate. He study before basecheck, get tips.A not good pilot is someone damn action thinks that he can survive on his own. Think that his the best pilot in the world when he is not.

Don't fall under that trap. Go and get all the tips in world that you can. The information you will get is not crap.

  2. Could be a small matter that affect safety.

For example, tire worn. Pilot say dangerous, company say can still go for a few more sectors. Pilot refuse to take the aircraft. How long does it takes to change tires?

OR call other pilots, offer them gold to fly the same plane. hahaha... :D

  3. Lam,

What you said is true. You can definitely earn more but I heard life is tough over there. With MAS, it's not that nice also but some decided to stay despite they've been seconded to middle east before.

Anyway, I believe AK cabin crew makes more money than MH.

As for pilots, instead of looking at those in middle east, I'd rather compare it with average earner in Malaysia. It turn out not too bad you know. My cousin a doctor earning RM10,000 before when she was working in Ireland. Now coming back to Malaysia it's different story.

    Adrian,

In airline society, seniority is a very important business to almost all individual. It doesn't matter which department you come from just like what Nick said some may not treat you in the way you expect them to. You might even see some younger senior guys pulling face or trying to show off in front of you or bullying you.

Stand firm, smile and enjoy the ride! :drinks:

I even experienced a junior cadet trying to act in front of me thinking that I'm more junior than him. :D

Don't worry, this is only temporary, In the end, you guys will end up as friends. :good:

  4. Wow Edwin! those are cool! I've experienced once at Sungai Besi after Solo GH exercise, tower ask me to shutdown on taxiway. After that 4 fire truck came and brought me on the stretcher to safety. It was fun.

BTW, why didn't you start take the citation x for a ride? I'm sure you got the 'rating' on Eaglesoft right?hehe... :D

  5. Hey Khaled, do you roughly have idea that how is the fuel consumption pattern for B738? I believe it should be more efficient am I right? It would be interesting to see the comparison.

Sorry bro, no idea :pardon: ....

Well, on airbus you got brake fan. On 737 you have to taxi properly. hehehe...BTW, all MAS planes got monitoring system. Everytime you do something funny,

it will be recorded and you can be called to the office.

  6.

Next naive question, how much RM for that 50kg fuel, approximately ?

Man, 50kg weight loss in those few seconds

If I can package that somehow for some weight loss programme, I'll be an instant millionaire many times over :)

Well, based on 1 us gal of jet fuel = 6.3 USD, by using idle reverse we can save up to RM340.

That means for 1 hour of flight, u need about RM16,500 to feed the engines!!

I won't bother much about the price, otherwise I'll be thinking twice everytime I need to push the thrust levers.

    Safety, then saving. :drinks:

  7. You can apply reverser using idle thrust or normal method where you apply more power to the reverser to get more braking action.

With the fuel price sky rocket high, sometimes it is better to use idle reverse(the no noise one) and let the brake do its job.

Brake wear has become secondary but of course there are a lot of factors to consider such as brake cooling, short runway etc...

On average using idle reverse can save approx 50kg of fuel on B734.

  8. To: AK Pilots

    From: Me...

I'd been told by somebody that AK pilot had been trained to landing the aircraft at certain angle in order to make the tyre last longer....is it true?

Maybe some AK pilot could help me clarify on this....

    Thank you....

Me no AK pilot but that somebody sure don't know what his talking about. You land just like how the book tells you to do. Otherwise 9M-AFA surely flying fine from her last landing.

  9. They still don't get it that it's Qantas' own safety standard that is resulting in the jet issues - he is still blaming non Australians....

Gosh - I hope they don't go as low as scapegoat"ing" Qantas immigrant's/non australian staff's to blame for Qantas aircrafts issues...

"But he said any passenger perceptions of dropping safety standards on Qantas jets "is probably a message for Qantas that they need to have maintenance done by Australians in Australia"."

You see, this statement is quite true because those aircraft sent for servicing in ASIA done by Australian engineers also. Because of sudden rise in malfunction to their aircraft operations, Australian engineers only is not good enough. The requirement now is that they must be Australian Engineers, working in Australia!

    Australia Boleh! Qantas Boleh!

  10. It doesn't matter whether you have CPL/ir,MAS cadet or Private CPL/ir holder, as long as you came fresh from flying school you will join any airline as a cadet pilot. Once you have completed you line training then only you will be promoted as a Second Officer. From CP to SO, you must go through hell!!! Trust me on this. No one can escape!!! :good: Good luck guys!
