  1. Timothy, before you take the first step, I shall warn you, 4 months for PPL is something possible when:

    1.Aircraft available

    2.Instructor available

    3.Weather permissable

    4.Trainee is able to cope.

PPL rely a lot on external factors rather than you alone.

  2. Same here, I'm not updated with the current prices. Normally you have to do the local airlaw paper before you can fly there. Normally one has to go for a checkride with the club's instructor before flying their aircraft. In order for you to fly their planes, you also have to join their membership.

  3. sorry for starting a whole new thread about this,

but I'm curious if GGIFA (@ Bintulu) accept private candidates ? My 4 months+ summer break is approaching soon, and getting a PPL in M'sia is still cheaper than doing it in the UK where i'm studying. My parents are open to the idea... as well as the costs. the .pdf on GGIFA quoted RM33855 for the PPL course and a training duration of 13 weeks.

is this price about right ? it's without accomodation.

I think it's a bit tight but not impossible.

  4. It's just a joke. I doubt it's meant to tarnish the profession. I mean, I've read somewhere that Southwest Airlines told the prospective pilots that they're interviewing to change from the normal uniform to shorts. No harm done...

Wearing shorts and AK's video is 2 different thing. Pilots in Maldives flying the float otter wearing shorts.

Good luck with the interview to those selected!

  5. Learned new thing about reverse thrust today.. Before this, I thought that it can only be applied after the front landing gear touch down.. Pilots, which one you all prefer, applied it before or after the front landing gear touch down ??

In order to engage reverse thrust, the reverser sleeves must be opened(a.k.a unlock) first. This can only be done once the main gear has touchdown.

Once the reverser sleeves opened, we increase the thrusts on both engines. So we get reverse thrust. Reverser application is only effective at high speed thus the selection must be applied immediately. The nose gear will be flown down to the runway nicely. Normally it happens together. Again, my explanation is as simple as it is.

  6. i have a strong feeling he meant 2000ft/min. probabaly the person who wrote this report wasn't listening to him properly?

Why so serious? This is just another article similar to Airbus 737 or Boeing A340 media report. We should all just laugh and enjoy the article. After all the pilot did say "'speed' of 2000xx/min". For a reporter with no aviation interest to know there's such thing as vertical speed@descend rate is something WOW to me.

99% of the time to the media:

    Boeing/Airbus=same thing

    747/A330/a737/b340= same thing

    emergency landing= crash landing

Normal landing which requires tow truck after that = emergency landing

    go around=almost crash

    turbulence=almost crash

    So why bother.

  7. FYI, my flight instructor from TUDM was a former mat rempit before he got into the Air Force.

The biggest room in this universe is room for improvement! People do change.... :drinks:

Well, that depends on how we defined mat rempit.

    To me:

Mat rempit specialize in murder, rape, rob, snatch, illegal racing and the worst motorist you can find on the road(ride against the flow and so on).

Mat moto is just some youngsters who likes to ride here and there. Sometime hangout in big groups but totally harmless.

1 thing in common for a mat rempit and a pilot is probably thier coordination. And for mat rempit and airforce pilot I can add that they both risk thier lives in wat they do.Its just that mat rempit risk for no reason and airforce pilot risk for country.

    Just my opinion though.

Anyway if there's any mat rempit out there wanna join cadetship, you better start follow the rules. hehe...
