Haha, I think you may have overestimated the importance of MH, KUL and A380 in the Australian aviation market.
In Australia, we are blessed by the abundance of choices and competitions - namely QF, SQ, DJ/VA, EK, QR, EY, CX, VS, NZ, KE, TG, VN, BI and UA . Most Australian travellers to Europe do not fly into KUL for transit. Most of us chose SIN, HKG, BKK and DXB when flying westward and LAX eastward. For A380 travellers, they can always choose SQ, QF, EK and I believe TG soon. For rare aircraft types, we can opt for EY (A345/346), VS' A346 and QR's 77L. All of which have better product than MH if they are not in the same par.
For the average Joe public, the A380 is just another biggish aircraft. Why would we be upset when MH fares are anything but cheap?
hence the decision for MH to not send A380 there is wise...

No need to turn them into low cost carrier just make them like SilkAir

Not really, the few CD shops at Centre Point Sabah were all doing roaring trade on Sunday afternoon
was he meant about real pirates? there are some real pirates at south china sea is it? in 2000 they kidnapped a group of tourists in Sabah
-
according to TheStar today there will be around 5000 American from the ship spend few days in KK

this was from different flight but in a smilar situation. Most of the passengers seem excited by looking outside of the window during landing(well with those many palm trees outside, isnt that an "amazing view"? ). And at 5:20 the guy a bit surprised to see there was LH bird in KUL...
-
what is the passengers reaction when they landed in KUL? specially those who never been there before.
-
if we think relevantly, in what area they can collaborate togather but still compete against each other? is there any such kind of thing??
-
why a lot of european carriers flew to Malaysia on that time? tourism? business?
-
the name of Lion Air's president also not bad. I meant his second name

LCCs are successful in cost control because every cost item (to them, or to the pax) is closely scrutinised.
I don't really care if it is airport tax or fuel surcharge. What I care about is the bottom line price I have to pay for my air ticket. And that price includes airport tax.
but TF said on behalf of passengers and reality is,passengers didnt said that pun!
-
or name the airline after animal like bird's name
-
Malindo - such a horrible name, definitely one for the uninitiated. Plus the name Malindo reminds me of a textile shop somewhere along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman in downtown KL...pretty sure I've come across it before..
did you mean 'Munlong'?

Why bother to name airport after notable figure? We have Jalan, Auditorium, sekolah and memorial named after P. Ramlee. And that should be sufficient.
I regret they don't retain the name of Bayan Lepas! Changi and Incheon are among popular locality and everyone understood it belong to Singapore and Seoul.
You know why? That is the BIG differents between BN and the opposition party. 55 years of ruling our country, leaving us with NO IDENTITY and teaching us to do not appreciate someone who was not related with their party.
-
just retain the original PENANG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT as the name symbolises the City, not the person from the City.
naming the airport after P.Ramlee does not mean anything.
Penang International is not the original name of the airport. It was Bayan Lepas. And Penang is not a "city" but a STATE... poor you!
-
Penang has no Sultan. So named after Lim Guan Eng? But he is still alive yet.
Radzi has stated "or after the place itself". BTW, dont you guys think this is the time for us to have something new in our aviation industry?
-
No offence but P. Ramlee does not resonate among younger generations nowadays.. Later we will have airports named after Lee Chong Wei or Siti Nurhaliza, personally, I think just leave it as it is.
so elsewhere in the world where the airport is named after a person, that person must be resonate among their today's younger generations?? your point is not relevant
By the way, was the Penang state government wanted the name changed or merely suggested for such name changed?
And which party can gazette such name change? DCA, Minister, PM?
i guess MAHB.

Liverpool airport is named after John Lennon. And all over the world,it is such a common practise for an airport to be named after people, but perhaps here in Malaysia it is something very new. Here is the list of airports there are named after people: http://www.grumpysgetawayguide.com/2010/11/18/airports-that-are-named-after-people/
-
What's next? USM to be named after Jimmy Choo?
why you need to be worried so much? is it going to give a huge impact into your life? Btw to your relieve i dont think the fed will approved this simply because it came from the opposition party person. So chill k!
-
My family still call it Bayan Lepas Airport. Won't make many difference to many travellers, including myself.
indeed actually..only aviation ethusiasts that keep themselves updated with aviation news will take care about it... same goes with subang airport
-
So you agreed.
yup! He was an entertainer and back then there was not so many entertainment like we had nowadays,so i can say that he played an important role on that time. But if you wanted to say that there were lot of poor people, bad infrastructure, not enough food,etc,etc..that was not his responsibility and fault.
-
The idea have been in place for quite some time. Overall i agree to rename the airport after P. Ramlee. He was no political figure, during his time, our country were less divided than today and his legacy even continues to this day. One can't dispute his contribution to local movie scene during his era, of course it's not a one man show.
Adnan Yaakob can suggest to rename Kuantan Airport too. Siti Nurhaliza Airport.
the current Kuantan's airport is named after the state's sultan. I dont think that could be "touch"
Interesting ... any of you guys remember what life was like during P. Ramlee's time?
According to Penang's Chief state minister, he wanted the airport to be name after the late P Ramle is because to recognize his vast contribution towards the entertainment industry.
-
If they're proposing to name the airport after someone who've done the country proud like P Ramlee then I'm all for it - it'll be like Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
If they're proposing to name it after politicians - an absolute NO!
agreed! Im support Lim Guan Eng in this!
No need lah. Then somebody'd name KLIA Mahathir Airport.
P Ramlee is DIFFERENT than Mahathir

Thanks dean hizudy for the links. That proves a lot from the saying that only Fed govt can give development.
I am hoping this airport get what it deserves in due time.
Welcome! Perhaps there are some others development projects that on the top of Kelantan govt list eg:the highways and the current KBR airport still able to accommodate the total number of passengers in a year so there is no need in rush for it. Give way to much more important projects first.

I am well aware of that.
However, it is not just noise that affects any decision - there are loads of other factors too. If noise was the sole factor, then ALL jet flights would have been banned from SZB.
that is the point, hence i used the word "IF" on my comment above...
