  1. Malindo Air to start KL-New Delhi route Bernama | Updated: July 01, 2013

    61370948789_295x200.jpg

NEW DELHI: Malaysia's hybrid airline, Malindo Air is set to commence the Kuala Lumpur-New Delhi route, sources said.

It is currently awaiting approval from India's Civil Aviation Ministry.

"If all goes well, the route should be operational from Aug 15 onward," a source close to the process told Bernama today.

Although the frequency and type of aircraft, Malindo will use for the

five-hour plus route is still unclear, the return fare is expected to be

    around Rs17,000 (RM887).

The fare is almost 50 per cent lesser than what is being charged now for the route generally.

    Malindo operates Boeing's Next-Generation 737-900ER (Extended Range).

In an interview with Bernama last month, Malindo Airways chief

executive officer Chandran Rama Muthy had said the carrier plans to fly

to India, China and the Asean countries by the end of 2014.

Besides Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia X also flies the route.

However, AirAsia X axed flights to New Delhi and Mumbai on Jan 31 last year, citing high operating costs.

Its group chief executive officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the

airline would restart the routes, but indicated, the airline was not

rushing to do so anytime soon.

  2. Official press release, effective 1st July 2013 exemption of Visas for Nationals of Malaysia

      1. A visa exemption arrangement exists between Japan and Malaysia such

that nationals of Malaysia who meet relevant conditions may enter Japan

without obtaining a visa for a period of not exceeding three consecutive

months (short-term stay). Nevertheless, since 1993, based on a

consideration of the state of affairs at the time, the Government of

Japan began to encourage that nationals of Malaysia obtain a visa in

        advance to enter Japan.

      2. However, in celebration of the 40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship

and Cooperation, the Government of Japan has decided that from July 1,

nationals of Malaysia in possession of ordinary IC passports who wish to

enter Japan for short-term stay will no longer be encouraged to obtain a

visa as noted above and will be able to visit Japan without one. In

making this decision, Japan is effectively restarting the measures to

offer visa exemptions for nationals of Malaysia with the intention of

entering Japan for short-term stay. The further development of

Japan-Malaysia exchange is expected as a result of the restart of the

visa exemption, including increases in the number of tourists from

Malaysia who visit Japan and the enhancement of the ease of business

        transactions between the two countries.

Regardless of the above, the restart of visa exemptions shall apply only

to those with an ordinary IC passport. Nationals of Malaysia who do not

hold an ordinary IC passport continue to be encouraged to obtain a

        visa.

PETALING JAYA (June 25, 2013): Malindo Airways Sdn
Bhd is undaunted by the recent spate of people leaving the hybrid
airline – just three months since its launch, with its CEO saying brain
    drain is not an issue.

Chandran Rama Muthy said the airline has more than enough people to
run its operations and that it is not affected by the number of people
leaving the company, which recently included its head of commercial
    Rajasegaran Rajoo.

"People come and go all the time. We have about 700 people in the
company, our key people are in place and we are fine. There is nothing
to worry about," he told SunBiz via phone yesterday.

Malindo Air received its fourth aircraft on Sunday. It already has two Boeing 737-900ERs and a ATR 72-600.

According to a source, some six people have left the company in the last month itself, mainly at middle management level.

It is understood that at least three of those who left Malindo Air in
the last few months joined AirAsia. These included a former marketing
manager and its former legal head. Malindo Air already has a new legal
    head now.

AirAsia, known for its creative advertisements that take potshots at
its competitors, took the opportunity to incorporate the news of
Rajasegaran's return to the group yesterday, with an ad for its
celebration sale which kicked off yesterday. An internal ad was also
    circulated to its employees.

The internal ad (pix) with a silhouette of Rajasegaran
wearing a crown says "Welcome Home RAJA! Come dressed to work like a
RAJA on Monday and stand to win exciting prizes".

Another ad, which is part of its celebration sale, reads,"Go Home like a Raja. Beat the jam and balik kampung in style."

The source said this is not the first time the group has used ex-staff returning to AirAsia in its internal material.

  4. Also check if you if buying return is cheaper or separate bookings for outbound and inbound. I checked MH to HKT and got RM1,300+ for 2 pax return, however for the same flights and on the same dates, I got RM500+ to HKT and only RM400+ back with separate bookings. No brainer which one I bought.

Yup, sometimes booking separate more cheaper rather than buying return. HKT last 3 weeks during great promo I got MYR444 return for 2 pax, they only charge fare + tax and no surcaj.

  5. OD has inflight entertainment on, on the domestic stretches ? Their screens are quite large (figuring by the LGK published pictures I saw)...

2.5 hrs with (on a 739) or without (on a 734) would be a factor for me too, and would rather pay a few extra Ringgit for that...

Yup, I would rather pay a few extra for MH because of Enrich. Just flew on KUL/KCH/KUL last weekend return at MYR160 (MYR80 per one way). :D

  6. Penerbangan terus Kota Bharu ke Bangkok, Hanoi

Mohd Nor Yahya, 19 Jun 2013

    firefly.jpg

KOTA BHARU: Syarikat penerbangan Firefly kini pada

peringkat akhir kajian mengadakan penerbangan terus dari Kota Bharu ke

    Bangkok, Thailand dan Hanoi, Vietnam.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Firefly, Ignatius Ong berkata, pihaknya

Singapura sebanyak empat kali seminggu bermula Ramadan tahun lepas.

Ignatius juga berkata, kadar permintaan penumpang di Kelantan begitu

tinggi sehingga menyebabkan Firefly menyediakan lapan penerbangan

    sehari.

Ia meliputi Kota Bharu-Pulau Pinang, Kota Bharu–Subang dan Kota

Bharu-Senai, Johor. Firefly milik penuh Syarikat Penerbangan Malaysia

    (MAS).

  7. but consumers not only look up for the prices, there are also several other factors such as schedule, timing, inflight services, seat pitch......

Don't forget frequent flyer programme factor too. Now since FY can earn Enrich miles, more advantages for them. Unless Malindo Air will introduce FFP as well soon. Somemore ATR OD's fare quite same as FY. I'd rather be flying with 10% of something rather than 100% of nothing. :D
