  1. Now that is a joke. Except for mornings, the penang airport is practically like a ghost town. Most flights are to Subang and KL only. Direct international flights are pathetic with only Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taipeh and Singapore dominating the scene (Medan included by note the flight cancellations). Overall, you will be impress if you see the load in the morning but after that, well... its a different story. So before the second runway comes into conversation or a better and expanded terminal, try getting more flights in to Penang, perhaps from India. Chennai in particular. My 2 sen which of course now worth practically nothing.

  2. If EK were to land their metals in PEN, MH would have been shocked to core even though the flight may not be via KUL. As is, you barely see jellyfishes at PEN. Red Cap dominates the domestic gates most of the time with FY and OD monopolising Gate B4. Compared to previous years where you only see jelly fishes at PEN and barely any other airlines. What a shame. It would be a total nightmare for Jelly Fish if EK plies KUL/PEN at the same pricing as MH... Would loyalty and nationalism prevails in this instance?

  3. Anyone tried taking OD205 to Delhi? Flights to India does not seem to get a good review from Google search.

Took OD205 KUL/DEL. I have only praises for the flight. It was a good flight arriving DEL +/-2130 local time. Good time to arrive as the big flights have either touched down way before or yet to arrive. OD was the only flight arrive DEL at that time; needless to say, there was no one at the immigration. Beside, DEL is well laid out and good airport, unlike BOM. Overall, I would rate the flight an 8 our of 10. In addition, the 739 is a pleasant aircraft with good IFE in its own category. The IFC was also impressive for Biz Class. Note: I got Biz Class seat for only RM950 one way. I would take OD205/206 for my future trips to DEL definitely. Both sector is 90% full. Biz Class pax are according ITC Lounge at DEL; the same lounge used by QR.

  4. IMHO...

This is a suitable time to rethink the business model of the national airline. The name and branidng + the logo can come afterwards.

Firstly, it is a good time to split the international sector to one airline and the regional/domestic to another. Perhaps the role and business model of Firefly can be expanded to cover the domestic (if necessary) but more importantly, the regional destinations using the B738s. That will not be too difficult to pursue with the aircrafts readily available and skilled manpower, i.e. above the wings personnel.

The international sector - a total revamp with complete paradigm shift is required as this has always been the major challenge, esp with many big boys around. The right product-service mix need to be well thought out. Then the product-service positioning and of course, the topic everyone love to talk about, i.e. the logo, the colour scheme, etc,.

Below the wings services - outsource to KLAS if necessary. Keep whatever that can really support the branding of the "international airline" sector, i.e. IFC, etc.

    Just my 2 sen.

... and if it is not too much to ask for, use a proper designer to design their uniforms. Not some amateur from ...

  5. Air Asia and Air Asia X bag first and second placing respectively for the Best Low Cost Carriers Worldwide & Asia; Air Asia X comes in second for Australia/Pacific. Unfortunately, Malaysia Airlines is nowhere to be seen where even Garuda made it to the top listing. So sad. What will be come of MH?

  6. I changed to come back on 714 after i noticed that MH851 pulling up to the stand next to me was a 738 9M-MXF.

I still believe in MH and their 777's! The crew i flew with today is still in shock, but i can tell you, you'd never noticed a lapse in service.

Somebody called me foolish. I'm just showing support the only way i know how - to give my dying home airline a fare. :)

On the contrary. I applaud your action for doing so - giving MH your unconditional support. My only hope is that when the dust settles and with the grace of the Almighty, MH370 is found in good state with the prayers of all; MH along with its Management and Staff pull their socks up show the world her rightful place.

  7. Certain topics are never and can never be meant as joke. If you are proud of your profession and it is being joked about as such, you will feel humiliated and belittled for all the efforts you put into your job. Coming from the AirAsia group, the blow can only be doubly severe

That is very true. It is total crap. How can this be an "oversight" when one knows very well it is totally insensitive to another profession. If you have a "process" in place, how on earth can you allow this one to pass through your system. Post-event apology after the damage has been done can be viewed as "questionable sincerity". "Kudos to AK"? It should not have happened in the first place.

  8. I just did a KUL/CMB/KUL 2 weeks ago, it was a pathetic old 738. Needless to say ... what sky interior? OMG, it was an international route with foreigners of various nationalities. Buat malu orang. I wud rather take AK's 320 to CMB where it is much more comfortable and generally you don't feel so cramp down like a 737. Sadly, AK terminated this route. Food was nothing to shout about too... Very sad for our national airline.
