  2. Fuiyoh..Marvellous shots,Victor :good: The third photo is my favourite. I think the RAAF (A21-44) is a normal Hornet, Super Hornets have rectangular air-intakes. There's also a F/A-18A Hornet in special colour scheme this time, rego is A21-38.

Very nice catches from Butterworth, Victor!

Yes, that RAAF looks like a normal Hornet as all of the RAAF's Super Hornets were taking part in that massive formation flypast in Australia.

Opppsss sorry, my bad, mistakenly identified the Aussie F/A-18 as Super Hornet.. :pardon:

Waaaa...... Typhoon!.... nice catch Victor :clapping:

Location? or is it classified... :p

location: middle of the paddy field parallel to rmy 18. pretend to be hard working paddy farmer holding a dslr instead of 'cangkul' to escape detection..

    anyway, thanks guys...

  3. Heard some military birds flying around my area in Tanjung Bunga but didn't see a thing this morning around 10am....

Anyone know where is a good place for spotting the Ex-Bersama Lima birds.....thinking of goin for spotting

last week saw a couple of F/A-18 and BAe Hawks doing training. count me in if you still thinking of spotting. the safest area to spot would be from the paddy field. spotting from the perimeter fencing would most definitely attract the Provost attention..

  4. In Malaysia, the annual road casualties amount to about 30 Boeing 744's crashing. Yet we don't think it is a serious enough problem.

The fact that this is a near miss says it all - its only a near miss and not a crash. I had a near on the road yesterday too - a moronic driver turning into my road failed to stop and look out for traffic. Had to take collision avoidance action!

Air travel is very safe - you are more likely to be killed on the way to and from the airports than on a plane.

its time that the msian road safety authority considering the use of TCAS on all road vehicles in Bolehland...

  5. so, no need to go is it...?

Anyway, for flying buffs who used to visit LIMAs, the advise is "keep your expectation low.." then you will enjoy your visit.

And to expect the food and lodging to increase, then you will not get a shock..

But still, it will be a great show for airbuffs...

had never place any high expectation whenever LIMA is coming. as for accommodation, had been checking around for the last few months and the price is 3, 4 times the normal rate... =@ :finger: every time i asked why the price sky rocketed, the answer is simple..ITS BECAUSE OF LIMA...really bloodsucking buggers.. :finger:

  6. Not sure why an accident that probably wasn't caused by an aircraft problem means it's unsafe and needs replacing. There have only been two Twin Otters destroyed in nearly 30 years of service in Sarawak and Sabah (9M-MDJ and MDN).

9M-MDN landed short of the runway but not sure what happened to 9M-MDJ. Any one know?

Anyway, we won't find out the real cause of this accident as the DCA think keeping accident reports secret will improve safety :excl:

    Geoff

while other country aviation authority would have disclose the cause of an accident publicly, in Bolehland its classify under OSA, ISA, PMR, SPM, SRP, UPSR etc...

  7. Hi Folks,

Better late than never, on behalf of the "Vietnam delegation" I sincerely thank you all to make our spotting visit to Malaysia very friendly and fruitful (in terms of hundreds of aircraft pics taken). We are specially grateful for the best coordination from the great "ATC" host Chaity :good: , for Mr.&Mrs Norman's "catering service" with yummy chocolate cakes and for the graciously offered "ground service" from MIR, Victor, Hon kit, Yong and some more that we regretfully can't remember your names.

We look forward seeing you at our "spotting hub" SGN and at the next 7th anniversary of MalaysianWings. :drinks:

Let's browse some of my pics of our eventful day (some are backlit, sorry for the quality :sorry:)

You are most welcome Sir....hope to see you again soon...

  10. Stupid question but how the hornets coming from there?

no such thing as stupid question bro, only stupid answers... ;)

i believed the Hornets flew directly from Australia and somewhere along the way, they do mid air refueling...just my guess...

p/s: RMAF Hornets did the same routine while flying to Darwin for Exercise Pitch Black in 2008.
