well actually i didn't even know that 9M-XAA was on her test flight and it was by coincidence that i managed to caught her this afternoon. i was preparing to "depart" WX when she came in. anyway, hope to see her on test flight again soon. :D :pardon:

  2. today weather was "kejap ok, kejap tak ok"... but anyway, here are some of the shots..... :pardon:

    img24sept07b16311filterug4.jpg

due to some technical "short-coming"...emirates... :pardon: imgmwa6ectfilteredib3.jpg

and oooohh...i met with a group of Japang-nese spotters (4 of them to be precise). according to one of them, they're friend of TK San (Narita and Haneda spotters)... B)

p/s: uncle pieter, late this evening (around 7pm) i saw KLM 747 pass above my house, approaching WMKK, any idea? around 2.30pm saw 1 KLM 747 landed WMKK.

  3. OK... Calm down people... :)

Firstly, my experience of travelling with Singapore Airlines, a well renowned 5 star airline most recently from Singapore to Sydney didn't really feel 5 star in terms of food. The midnight flight you get a supper, which either consisted of a hot roll or a cold salad roll and then Breakfast was the warm dish. The way I saw that was Singapore wanting to cut down on costs, so rather than serve 2 hot meals, still serve 2, but one hot and one cold. Heck I could even have a Mars Bar for supper if I wanted to. From Penang to Singapore I only got a hot roll. That's it. They used to serve a hot (somewhat hot) dish but now, a roll. Why? Probably to reduce operating costs but still maintain a 5 star status. Before the hot roll came, IIRC the passengers complained about no hot meals on a 5 star airline like Singapore, hence the reintroduction of a hot meal.

MAS are trying to cut down on costs yes. I applaude them for doing that. But I don't think people realise that this is a necessity in order for it to survive well. Qantas only serves a snack box between Sydney and Canberra, heck it serves a snack box between Sydney and Brisbane. But yet they are highly regarded in Australian skies. In order for it to compete with the big boys... It needs to cut on costs. If it meals cutting inflight meals to a snack box then it's still providing you with a meal... But it may not be hot. Does the fact it has to be hot matter?

Once MAS figures out the reduction in costs, it can return to quite a nice profitable airline. Until then, I believe MAS are merely catching up with the other players around the region...

    Alex.

i agree with you Alex. before we all condemn MAS to the pit of the earth, lets look at what others (airlines) have to offer first. once we have experience what others have offered, then only we can say things towards MAS.

  4. i guess you're referring to runway 32L-14R. since its the only rwy which is visible from the main road. the other rwy, 32R-14L is not so near and cannot be clearly seen from the main road. anyway WX is located next to rwy 32L-14R and its a favourite location for spotters.

  5. In the the long terms, passsengers may just switched to AK if the fare is comparatively lower plus they are now operating all new A320s fleets.

All new A320s but terrible flight delays here and there, also not good for some people. those who travel a lot on business trip, i do think they would still prefer MH as MH flights are more punctual/on time as compared to AK. in flight meals would not be an issue for some of this people. would those travelers on business trip dare take AK flight if they have important meeting somewhere around the country when AK flights are facing terrible flight delay? would business travelers sacrifice cheaper flight fare with no meals and suffers delays? or would they take MH flight with much expensive fare and slightly above average in flight meal being served and flights being on time?

  6. remember a few months back when MAS got a number of flight delays due to mechanical/weather reasons, and this senator (i can't recall his name) made such a big news about is and asked (or did he ordered?) MAS CEO to resign? well luckily this time around nobody asked MAS CEO to resign. and i agree with Capt. Radzi suggestion that those VVIP (do they deserved VVIP salutation?) fly AK instead. even with new birds, AK do have terrible flight delay if compared to MH and this i have experience on many AK flights (from their B733 birds up to their brand new A320 birds). and to those VVIPs, why needlessly buka puasa hundreds of kilometres away from home and from your rakyat and waste state fund in doing so?

  10. great shots there jon! :clapping:

weather man should also complaint of those transformer demons which caused even greater noise and kicks up tonnes of dust. lousy MAB guards, lucky that he didn't say that control tower in subang and klia complaint of our present at WX disturbing their radar system. :nea:

  11. serious??so we dun have any malaysian pilots 'licensed' to fly an Su yet?see the head in the cockpit like pendek ony..more like a malaysian

    @Fitri Shukri

erm..what is the extra advantage of having a weapons system officer actually?take turns flying for long distance flights? :p

it takes that long to have an aircraft operational after the initial delivary?correct me if im wrong but i thot our pilots and technical staffs has been trained even before the first batch of sukhois arrived..

one of the reason is easy...can u shot down multiple target (easily more than 20 target) when at the same time fly the bird in all sort of evasive maneuvered at top speed? i don't think so. so that's why u need to have someone to look after all the weaponry on board the bird (including having to look at radar screen for any treat) and let the pilot fly the bird in peace and try to avoid being blown out of the sky by enemies.
