  1. Source: The Star

WHEN the recent “good news” came that Malaysia Airlines is offering cheaper air tickets from Jan 15, if booked well in advance, I was elated as I planned to go to the United States in May.

Hence I quickly logged on to the website. But when I found out that a return trip to New York for two adults and a child will set me back RM72,220, I nearly fainted.

At first I thought I could have input some wrong data in my request. I tried three times and got the same result.

If you were to average out, I will have to pay about RM24,000 per person. Is there an error in the software or is MAS getting crazy about profits?

This whole episode is leaving me shaking my head in utter disbelief!

    DISBELIEF,

    Kuala Lumpur.

I think u r looking at First Class... I'm not sure about MH. But SQ non-stop direct flight to Newark cost about RM23K a pop on A340.

Normally, a MH economy class ticket will set u back at about ~ RM4k-5k. It's a B772 flight via Stockholm (ARN), I believed.

  2. After reading some of the discussions (1,2,3), AdamAir seems to have very serious issue with their a/c and a very bad safety record. <_ with an average age of years for its aircraft fleet and bad maintenance practices they shouldn be allowed to fly at all.>

I was in horror when I read about the man-power push back and total communication & navigation lost during flight and end up land 500 miles away from its original destination. :(

My sincere condolences to families of victims. RIP.

  3. Anybody know where the Buran is now?

According to Wikipedia, Buran was decommissioned and destroyed when the hanger that housed it collapsed. And there was only one Buran built for only 3 hours unmanned mission. So, where got Buran?? :( There is a Buran-liked s/c called Ptichka though, could it be this one they are referring to?

    Wikipedia - Soviet's Buran

I'm looking forward to the arrival of Mriya though. :clapping:

  4. wah, where you get those images bro!

Was given to me by a friend. BTW these photos were taken from approx 9000 feet.

yeah~!!! can use it in FLight Sim.. Photoreal terrain for our beloved KLiA. :clapping:

Oh really ?! You can it to texture the terrain? How about building? <_>

Thanks a bunch to Hooi Yen and Fairul for the detail explanation, now I know. :yahoo:

Off topic abit - Anyone know what is the approach altitude of an aircraft when let's say 2km or 5 km from KLIA? perhaps some of the Captain here can explain further. :help:

  5. Would like to share some "lastest" developement in KLIA.

These vertical aerial photos were taken in early December 2006.

    klia_edit.jpg

Overview of KLIA as of DEC 2006.

    klia_2.jpg

Runway upgrade for 14R is almost completed, but apparently the last ~1000m section of the runway is still closed. I was wondering why they only put new asphalt in the middle of runway and taxiway?? :help: And when is it going to open for traffic? :help:

    klia_3.jpg

Aerobridge upgrade to accomodate A380 is still on going. <_ the blue cover at northwing of satellite building.>

    klia_1.jpg

Upgrading works for the LCCT apron seems started already. Anyone know when it is going to complete?

p/s: Sorry for the crappy image quality.

  6. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A DC-10 had an exceedingly long roll out after landing with his

approach speed just a little too high.

San Jose Tower: "American 751 heavy, turn right at the end, if able. If not able, take the Guadeloupe exit off of Highway 101 and make a right at the light to return to the airport."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wahahaha... this one totally cracks me up!!

    Thanks for sharing LWwong!! :yahoo:

  7. Now EVERYTHING can fly!

Not to mean anything i know AK does not own the LCCT.

That's exactly the words I have in my mind when I read this.

Felt like I'm in Makro or something when I walked into LCCT for the first time. Hot and stuffy! Boarding during heavy down pour doesn't help the situation either even though provided with umbrella. But then, you get what you pay for. LCCT n AK does provide the opportunity for poor fella like me to travel a few times a year.

p/s : Harian Metro used the word atap instead of roof. :nea:

  8. Really nice angles, Kianhong: love the Cessna 208, especially :good: :good:

Although it's called Sahara, the 737 is from India ;)

    Thanks Tony and Pieter C.

Oppss... :o Double-check with the aircraft body. Yup... it's indeed AirSAHARA from India. :pardon: Thanks Pieter for pointing it out. :p Malu malu ...

  9. Kudos again for the superb effort by MalaysianWing volunteers!! :good: :yahoo:

Definately will attend the carnival again next year and maybe can help out at the booth.

In fact I'm wondering if MWings can organise a joy flight day for just our MW members and their families. We can block the aircraft for a whole morning. Those interested can pay RM60 for a 30-minute flight over KL (between the twin towers, Bangsar, Lake Titiwangsa, etc.), have lunch and then spend the afternoon at the RMAF Museum.

Capt. Attarn, I like the idea as I didn't get to go on the joyride that day. You know lah, kind of broke abit at the end of the month, especially when u need to save up money to join the brightsider society.

    More photos to share...
