flee 5 Report post Posted March 11, 2015 Good luck in getting the approval. I don't think Australia government is very kind towards any entity related to Lion Air Group. That is the whole purpose of Malindo, isn't it? It was set up to ply international routes that Lion Air could not get approvals for due to the EU blacklist of Indonesian airlines - that EU blacklist is often used as a reference by other countries. flee 5 Report post Posted June 18, 2015 I though they will use the ATR like Firefly SIN has stopped giving slots for turboprops. So it has to be a jet service.

Kenny Sing 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2015 so happy to see 737s in ipoh airport once again. Air asia operate flights from Ipoh to JB some time ago and they decide to tutup their kedai. Hope that Malindo helping to transform Ipoh airport into a transfer point (can't say it's hub as it lacks the facility for such a task) for the aircrafts in and out from Ipoh. next destination could be BKI, KCH, BKK, HKG, Hatyai, Phuket, Samui, for that it could give Ipoh some tourism boost. leon t 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2015 it will be interesting to see if this service from SIN to Ipoh can sustain 2 jet carriers and a turboprop in the mid run. Not sure of there's that kind of capacity between the pair destinations.
Robert 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2015 Looks like the KUL-SIN flights are changing. Luckily I don't book too far in advance but it looks like they are going down to 3 per day and the 19:30 ex SIN will run later on week days and early on Sundays. Us regular users are not impressed. Sandeep G 1 Report post Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) How are they positioning the aircraft into IPH for this service? Surely can't be a. KUL-IPH run... Must at least be coming in from Sabah/Sarawak? Disregard - saw the timings for the flight - so KUL-SIN-IPH-SIN-KUL. Fair go! Edited June 21, 2015 by Sandeep G
leon t 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2015 Yes unfortunately they took out the 10am SIN-KUL to use for this SIN-IPH flight which is a great loss to SIN-KUL. I have doubt this new service will be successful as now with Tiger in the fray first, am not sure how malindo can fare. Even when Firefly was flying this route with its 70 seater ATR, its load was not full except over long weekends and weekends - so its hard to see how with tiger 180 seater A320 and Malindo 738 can sustain with such a huge increase in seats. Robert 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2015 Not just that Leon, the 19:30 ex SIN was very good for my weekly commute and soon will be changed to 21:30. Im pretty annoyed because Malindo offer a far better product and price than AK, TR, 3K etc
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2015 Oh man! Robert, same situation here too. Prefer OD over any other airline. No wonder, I received an sms yesterday informing me my flight on 2nd August has been retimed to departure later than usual. 19.30 just nice for reaching my home (in Sunway) by 20.30. With the new timing,I may reach home close to midnight.
Sandeep G 1 Report post Posted June 22, 2015 Firefly fares often very high. This will be good for the consumer - although, the right-size jet for this flight is an E-Jet or C-series equivalent - Mojo Mojo!
flee 5 Report post Posted June 22, 2015 Firefly fares often very high. Yes, very high for last minute bookings but competitive if you book a month or more before flying.
