Thirty years ago this week, Airbus delivered the first Airbus A320. This was in a landmark event in the European manufacturer's evolution from niche player to a truly global producer of airliners.

Since that first A320-100 (F-GFKA) was handed over to Air France at a ceremony in Toulouse on 28 March 1988, Airbus has developed the original 150-seat version into a four-product family seating between 100 and 240 passengers (depending on cabin configurations). It has delivered just over 8,000 aircraft during those three decades, and holds a backlog for over 6,100 more.

One of them flew into the bush and crashed during test flight? The A320-100 was wearing Air France livery.........

It was not a test flight - it was a charter flight and there was supposed to be a low flypast!

There was an Air Crash Investigation programme done on it. It was also a crash that was fully captured on video.

The test flight crash was an A330 which killed two Alitalia pilots & the airline's desire to buy A330s.

Also the A320 that crashed at Habsheim was delivered only 3 days before the crash. Talk about rotten luck!
