I wonder why Dubai is not even in the top 20? (It is ranked no. 39). Though, DXB can be crowded at times, like inside a huge shopping centre.

Though I haven't been there as I write now... but will be there to see it in a few weeks' time.

Judging from the photos, I find it hard to believe TPE is better too!

None of these ratings are gonna change traveller habits. Choice of destinations for holidays are rarely influenced by airport quality. Choice of destinations for business even LESS so.

 

Skytrax is toilet paper as usual.

Very true. DMK is creaky and old. But Bangkok is still top of the list for many tourists

Most tourists arrived into Bangkok through Suvarnabhumi though... correct me if I am wrong but DMK is more or less a LCC terminal.

Tourists make the bulk of LCC passengers. You give them cheap tix they will come. Even if the terminal is a hut. And Thai Airasia X flies to Japan and Korea now. So DMK is quite well connected. With the exception of true long haul flights

Same goes to KLIA and KLIA2. Gosh I can't remember when was the last time I set foot on KLIA.
