You are right, the English name of Juneyao Airlines and its Chinese name (Jixiang Airlines) have absolutely no link . . . except that Juneyao was the name of the airline's founder who has since passed on. His brother now runs the airline and adopted the his late-brother's name for the airline.

I absolutely love this livery . . . thanks for great coverage Norman. Let me find my shots from PVG and add them to this discussion later.

Just wanted to share a sampling of my shots taken at PVG in May 2007.

One of the first subjects that came my way was this ex-Korean Air B742F . . . operating for Cargo Air Lines of Israel. Totally non-descript but if they wanted to be so inconspicuous, they should have removed the overall blue colours.

MW-4X-AXM-2007-05-10-01Cr-CAL-KEcs-.jpg

Aeroflot CARGO's DC-10F on the other hand was screaming for attention . . . it lifted off very early on its take-off run and within seconds from lifting off, the undercarriages were retracted. It then entered into a very laborious and shallow climb . . .

MW-VP-BDG-2007-05-10-02Cr-SHA-TOP.jpg

And when it reached me at the end of the runway, it was not high at all . . . thus allowing for this closeup shot from 3/4 rear. DC-10 . . . my favourite plane.

Among the many freighters operating into PVG are the B747Fs of JAL Cargo. One of these is seen climbing out steeply.

United Airlines B744s too are seen at PVG on a daily basis.

PVG-based Shanghai Airlines provides tonnes of lovely action each day . . . perhaps nothing more elegant than its B737-800s in new colours.

KC... thanks for joining me to share photos from PVG....

how I wished I could go out there and shoot from those locations...

hmmm.... tomorrow leaving for Shanghai... & stay there for 2 nights...

let see.... hmm.... whether I can add some more PVG's traffic here..

Those who have PVG's lets share...

Ian.... temp here (Xi'an) fluctuates from 25deg C at nights to 38deg C during the day... fuuuyoooo!!.. =@

Only on Monday was a bit cooler due to rain. Thus, humidity on the high 80s I think...

Shanghai Pudong's Airport is a great place for freighter spotting . . . but sadly, throughout the three days I spent at this airport, not a single Shanghai Airlines Cargo MD-11F appeared in front of me. That remains a target for the future. In the meantime . . .

There's the usual suspect, beginning with the MD11Fs of Fedex, UPS and Lufthansa Cargo . . .

mw1-N254UP-2007-05-10-03Cr-PVG-APS.jpg

mw1-D-ALCK-2007-05-10-02Cr-PVG-APS.jpg

And the B747Fs of Atlas Air . . .

mw1-N517MC-2007-05-10-01Cr-PVG-APS.jpg

And the converted B747-400Fs of Dragonair Cargo.

mw1-B-KAE-2007-10-05-10-04Cr-PVG-TO.jpg

Other daily B747s visiting include those of KLM and United.

mw1-N198UA-2007-05-10-03Cr-nc-PVG-T.jpg

For those keen to photograph local and regional birds, there's always the increasingly-rare MD-90 of China Southern Airlines . . .

mw1-B-2267-2007-05-10-01Cr-CSN-MD90.jpg

The Airbus A321s of Sichuan Airlines . . .

mw1-B-2371-2007-05-10-01Cr-SichuanA.jpg

The B737-700s of Air China in the Beijing 2008 livery . . .

mw1-B-5202-2007-05-10-02Cr-Beijing2.jpg

And the A321s of Air Macau . . . then still carrying the East Asian Games emblem.

mw1-B-MAQ-2007-05-10-02Cr-EastAsiaG.jpg

When I visited Shanghai to attend the ceremonies marking the entry of Shanghai Airlines and Air China into Star Alliance, I caught this China Cargo MD-11F taxying behind us through the window of the Air China A330-200 that flew me to Beijing. It was a very foggy morning, but it adds a little mood to the shot.
