Eddy Liew 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2015 (edited) Good pics! I also went to Song San Airport recently and went to the observatory deck to have a look. Lots of turboprop traffic and some FAT MD83. If I did some planning properly I could have seen the ANA B787 which I really would love to see, too bad I went there too early. The view of the airport from the MRT just before it arrives the station is fantastic too. Edited November 13, 2015 by Eddy Liew
Chaity 1 Report post Posted November 14, 2015 I was at TSA in mid Sept 2015. Just spent 3 hours spotting from the Observation Deck. Good spot if the light is good. Here are some photos to share. flee 5 Report post Posted November 14, 2015 Flee, good catch from the vantage spot. I want to visit that spot one day. Yes, you should visit - it is quite a popular place and there were many spotters there too. But the police are also quite vigilant and do patrol the road. I was at TSA in mid Sept 2015. Just spent 3 hours spotting from the Observation Deck. Good spot if the light is good. Here are some photos to share. Friendly tech crew never fail to wave Yes, the Obs Deck is good for morning spotting. Tech crew appears to be following Japanese traditions. You got some interesting catches at TSA. Chaity 1 Report post Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) Hi Flee, I was happy during my short stay there with good light most of the time except no Hello Kitty for me. Some shots on the runway where it is a bit too far. Shanghai ANA B787 This is just for the ferris wheel Edited November 14, 2015 by Chaity

The A321 is popular in Taiwan - EVA Air also operates quite a number of them. B-22612 Airbus A321-231 - TransAsia Airways Chaity, you got a nice catch with the Shanghai A330. My only A330 was that of the national carrier... B-18309 Airbus A330-302 - China Airlines You are lucky Flee, JAL usually sends 767 to TSA. Yeah, and that was the first aircraft I shot after arriving at TSA! I was pretty lucky to get this old classic too! Chaity 1 Report post Posted November 17, 2015 Flee, from your photos, it seems the light there was On & Off. From that vantage point, it seems quite close. How many mm of lens needed say A330-300 like Dynasty above on cropped DSLR ?
flee 5 Report post Posted November 18, 2015 Flee, from your photos, it seems the light there was On & Off. From that vantage point, it seems quite close. How many mm of lens needed say A330-300 like Dynasty above on cropped DSLR ? Yes, in the days before I went to TSA, the weather was horrible - rain all day and no sunshine. So I was lucky to be able to even do some plane spotting! For APS-C cameras, the 18-135mm kit lens would be needed to cover the wide bodies.
syafiq aidil law 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2016 Just returned from Taipei 2 days ago, had a chance to visit TSA on Friday, it was cold winter weather with around 16 degrees celcius and light rain sometimes. I only went TSA on Friday morning, around 9am and went to the rooftop of the market which facing runway 10. Here's some of my catch on that day.... Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted February 3, 2016 Great Taiwan shots, guys !!! Should go there one day too B-68808 classic design, yes, but this version turboprop, so quite rare !
SS Lee 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2016 Will be heading there someone next week. The guide is great and the cathedral look fantastic. I noticed there are two points, one at the car park and the other at the end of the runway. Would an 18-135 on a crop body be sufficient for both sides? S V Choong 4 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 Actually Songshan was originally built by the Japanese colonialist as Matsuyama Aerodrome. The same Chinese characters remained by pronounced different in both countries.
