Introducing Fly Qassim- a JV for Umrah and Hajj flight

Recommended Posts

A new, non-stop chartered flight service to Jeddah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia from KLIA and Senai will begin from March 17.

Fly Qassim will offer non-stop umrah and ziarah flights which will depart Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru every Monday and Friday from March 17 to July 18. It will also operate haj flights from July 18 to Sept 22.

The new service was made possible after Fly Qassim entered into an agreement with Nashwan Aviation (UAE), Nesma Airlines (Saudi Arabia) and Jalinan Pengurusan Dwi Vista Sdn Bhd (JPDV) from Malaysia.

The umrah and ziarah flights are priced at RM3,300 return from Kuala Lumpur and RM3,400 from Johor Baru.

“Hopefully, more Malaysians can enjoy an affordable and comfortable journey to these holy places,” said Fly Qassim operations director Khalid Humaid at a press conference to announce the latest venture.

Fly Qassim is a Saudi charter company with offices in both Malaysia and Indonesia, operating under the helm of its parent company, Nashwan Aviation from the United Arab Emirates.

Established five years ago, Fly Qassim flights operate under the call sign of Nesma Airlines of Saudi Arabia.

“It’s an honour to work with JPDV to serve Malaysians. We expect to fly 20,000 haj pilgrims to Mecca this year,” said Khalid.

Also present at the press conference was Nashwan Aviation chief commercial officer Datuk Seri Shiin Thomas.

JPDV managing director Norlynne Basir said the offer from Nashwan Aviation and Fly Qassim could not have come at a better time.

The former travel operator was at a crossroads after running a successful travel agent company for 15 years.

“I wanted to do something that would give me spiritual fulfilment. So when Fly Qassim wanted to work together, I grabbed the opportunity,” said Norlynne.

She added they wanted to introduce the service in Malaysia after the success of the venture in Indonesia.

“We hope that with this service, fewer pilgrims would experience problems like flight delays and cancellations,” said Norlynne, adding they aimed to be the premier umrah and ziarah charter flight provider in this region.

The Fly Qassim Airbus 330-200 aircraft can accommodate 350 people and has been refurbished with leather seats which provide comfortable legroom.

Two hot meals would be served en route and in-flight entertainment would also provided. All passengers get a baggage allowance of 40kg.

The carrier hopes to provide six non-stop, direct flights weekly to carry umrah pilgrims from Malaysia and Indonesia. Fly Qassim also hopes to tap into the China market.

Bookings can be made directly via the Fly Qassim Kuala Lum-pur office at 60111-1800 392 or authorised travel agents.
