Breaking News: Abort! Abort!

Recommended Posts

About 6 hours ago, MH005 aborted take-off in Frankfurt Main.   The plane currently remains at the airport. Co-pilot for the flight was none other than our MalaysianWings member, TK.

I received his sms at 2053 local. Then later called him to get further info. Here are the brief details:

-Aircraft T7 "Romeo Juliet" (gosh.......guys....remember this aircraft?? zrh?? :o :o :o

-Take-off aborted at 100 knots

- Diagnosis - Oil Pressure ZERO!!!! (forgot to ask which engine)

- Aircraft to remain on ground until temporary replacement of Trent.

When I spoke to him, he was already back at the hotel having some drinks. :D :D :D hehe. He is not sure how long he will be stranded.

So our TK is fine and kickin'. :D :D :D :D

yeah man! scary oooooo. when i spoke to TK, he sounded as if it was no big deal. may be because he is a pilot. he is trained for such mishap i guess.

If I were to be one of the passangers onboard, I too will be scared.

It's good to know that everyone is safe and sound.

frankly, for some of us including me, i would be happy to experience it just once! should be fun than sitting on a roller coaster. i dont know....the feeling of G force may be.

but i for sure i be very scared if a b734 aborted in TGG. sure the aircraft stuck in the beach.

I hope I will never experience an aborted takeoff. When I was younger, I was always excited whenever I get to fly. But nowadays as I get older, it is always a tense moment during the critical phases of flight like takeoffs and landings. On a recent flight on MRG where the aircraft suffered some turbulence, I was a bit worried seeing the wing flexing up and down, and the cabin shaking for about 15 minutes. When it landed in Kuching, that was the first time I was glad my flight was over. But then I had to return home to KL three days later. But this time it was smooth all the way :)

Glad TK and all the other occupants are safe :)

Guess 100 knots is well below V1 and VR (?)

Would be interesting to know how all the passengers were rebooked by MAS (at least not via AMS as MH017 left AMS today with full C- and Y-class (48/314) :o

 morning guys,

Im still in FRA alive and kicking.

MH 5 KUL-FRA 9M-MRJ.

All ok until we aborted our take off.

It was my sector. meaning i do the take off. As normal after advance thrust then press the TOGA button to engage the autothrottle, all announciation check, engine advance automaticaly and i glance the runway, my speed and then back to engine instrument....

THEN...secondary engine page came out, which we suppose not to see on normal flight until something is WRONG.

Once glance...i saw Right engine Oil Pressure Zero!!! In RED box.

We were at 100 knots, well before V1..so we abort, Captain took over control and Abort, i tell you one thing, Tripple 7 autobrake at abort...SUPERB.

I call to ATC, which is Tower frequency, "Malaysian Five, stopping"..

We stop on the runway, then Tower ask if we can exit, so we did on taxiway Sierra (S)... then settle the checklist. Then taxi back to an open Bay... escorted by 6 fire trucks!!!!!!!..Brake temperature went high due to the abort.

ALL AIRCRAFT WERE LOOKING AT US!!!!! even one pilot with a camera, guess what...I DID NOT BRING MY GEAR!!!! :o stupid of me.

Engineer came, check all the engine...nothing can do, not to forget we have limitation of duty time too..as per calculation, 16:30..we will step down, leaving engineer 2:30 hours to fix...not a chance, so..passenger disembark, Book into Hotel and the crew, check in back to our hotel...

So here i am, sleepy and safely in our business lounge with some food stuff...

Not knowing what to do tomorrow, work or not i dont know. Can someone send me my camera..i wanna spot!!!!

It will be worst if incident happen after take off and if we have to come back and land, we might dump lots fuel...meaning to say...burning money over FRA!!!!

My calculation...close to 76,000 kg of fuel.

Morning guys...sleep tight.

Im ok...see you in KUL.

Jonathan, please check my maxis bill, i paid it.

By the way...My PIA photo is in Jetphotos.. :D ., thats important.

Azahan, sorry to abort our meeting..

Sharon..i be back soon..

Mummy/Abah..im OK..

6 fire trucks escorting. wuhuuuuuuuuuu. this romeo juliet loves getting attention i think. first she did it in zrh, now in fra.

imgine all eyes (mostly) in FRA concentrating on juliet while she gracefully taxied to open bay.

HAZANI........now the attention is focussed on you. all infos and the parameters on the aborted take off are given. so FS images soon aaaaaahhhhhhh. (hang tukaq laaaa muka TK ngan captain dengan muka aku ngan gavin. jump seat hang bo laaaa nizam ngan imran. pi buat muka imran tu panic sikit) (translation for pieter: why dont you replace tk and the captain with me and gavin. you can put imran and nizam in the jumpseats and make imran looks panic)

Good job, TK and crew. You all did well.

But TK, sad that your camera gear is at home. Won't be taking any picture there.

Anyway, when are you coming home? On same aircraft or the next crew take over?
