Recommended Posts

According to @Airlineroute on twitter, PR has filed proposed schedules for KUL due to restart on 25JUL, using A321 equipment. Schedules aren't shown yet but is expected to be published soon.

Previously they send A319 to KUL and they said the reason of stopping the route due to unhealthy load. Now this time they are using A321 which I guess is big enough.

I think they stopped and restarted twice... finally. I find it strange that KLIA can't even attract airlines from this region like PAL, Qantas and Asiana let alone from other continents. MAHB seem to be more interested in setting up outlet centres and shopping malls than in concentrating on their core business, which is aviation and in making sure KLIA continues to play a role as an important air hub in this region

I took PAL in 1983 to MNL and continued to HNL and........can't remember how I end up in Philadelphia. :bad:

We have photos of PAL B737 in KUL in 2005/2006.

There are photos of PAL A319 in KUL in 2013

So looks like they stopped their services here 3 times already. Now I wonder how their 4th try will fare. Anyway even without PAL there has always been flight between KUL and MNL operated by many other airlines.

To be fair, KLIA and most airports under MAHB management recorded a growth in terms of passenger traffic. It seems they are doing well even without the presence of airlines such as PAL & Qantas. Now, PAL is considering to return back to KLIA, I believe more to follow suit.

growth in passenger traffic is more due to the expansion of Air Asia, Air Asia X and Malindo etc. But am surprised to notice that PAL have actually left klia for sometime.

You can't force someone to come if they don't have an economic reason to come. That is why BA & KL stayed while AF & LH left.

so? those airlines still need to collaborate with MAHB in order to expand their operations. They cant do everything alone.

so- it meant that MAHB have not done enough to get Foreign carriers to come or return back to klia. Simple. It's the local airlines that pushed the expansion and more frequency to get the pax numbers up.

I give it 12 months maximum...sorry for being sinister.....the route is taken all over by LCC.

They have never really marketed this route properly. I am sure they will fail again if they don't work harder to make the route work.

Having said that, I think that is is more an LCC route, so Airasia Malaysia and Philippines have the edge.
