GoInsure is included in the booking price until the last step when you get to cancel it.

Has anyone ever been in an unfortunate event and made claims from it?

Or has anyone ever been in an adverse situation and wished you had not cancelled GoInsure?

Or worse, has anyone been in a miserable state and GoInsure was not of help?

My friend lost his checked-in luggage during our trip to Shenzhen. We came back on the 3rd and he only got his luggage delivered to our hotel on the evening of 2nd. No insurance, not sure what can the travel agent do now.

I think I'll try not to check-in any luggage from now on.

Bought GoInsure only once i.e. KUL-TWU-KUL as I was going to take a boat trip to Mabul from Semporna ... just in case. But everywhere else domestically, I just cancelled it.

Only annoyance is AIG keeps on calling me after that to sell Personal Accident insurance and other products of theirs. Last call was this morning when they wanted to ask if I was interested to buy their PA policy. They wanted me to sign on on-the-spot with my credit card number over the phone.

The cheek of them to identify themselves as 'Air Asia' when they first called. And their phone was CLI-R enabled, so all that was displayed on my phone was 'Private Number'. How am I to be very sure that the caller at the other end was indeed AIG and not some conman?! Very unprofessional.

How certain were you that insurance coverage extends to your boat trip as well ? (if that is what you meant)

Yup, I too used to get irritated by people calling up to sell insurance (also club memberships, etc) over the phone. Nowadays, I just thank them for calling and remind myself it's probably just the way the person on other end of the line has to cari makan Heck, perhaps I too irritate the heck out of customers I have to call up at times ! :)

From what I understand, the RM15 (return journey) insurance covers 'misfortunes' for the duration of the trip and not just issues related to the carrier such as delayed flights, missing luggage etc., although maybe it doesn't cover events related to terrorism (which Semporna and Sipadan had a history of) or natural calamities.

Having noted that boat operators out of Semporna to Mabul / Sipadan such as Uncle Chang's utilize decent vessels with the necessary life jackets and divemasters on board, I feel there is less worry now. Also I noticed that with the visible presence of Marine Police between Sipadan / Mabul and Semporna, and Police GOF on Mabul itself, terrorism issues should be a thing of the past.

If you miss a connecting flight because of a flight delay, would the travel insurance get you a new ticket or something?
