KS Ong 1 Report post Posted December 11, 2015 Each of us had to sign an NDA and Deliverables with Malaysia Airports at security pass counter (level 2) before proceeding to have security briefing at airside. Some of their deliverables include:- 1. Internal and external aircraft pictures 2. Article/blog about the event to gain positive sentiments towards Malaysia Airports and British Airways 3. Follow Malaysia Airports and British Airways at their social media; Facebook (Malaysia Airports, British Airways), Twitter (MY_Airports, British_Airways), Instagram (malaysiaairports, british_airways) Hope my fellow mwingers can support and follow their social medias. T Azahan 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2015 They just signed blindly. I don't think they bothered to read. I had a chance to meet a good friend. We had not met for quite sometimes. She was pleased with the Classic. Upon getting our pass, we were driven to the Security premise at the airside, near the LCCT for safety briefing. LCCT is a ghost town now. Jonathan Kong 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2015 A week before the event, the Malaysianwings old farts had a dinner gathering... such a nice feeling to meet up & update each other's busy life... not to mention talking about the aviation projects that we plan to do in the future on the day itself, before the plane arrives... we were already busy photographing... group selfie in the car while enroute to Security premise at the airside All smile and ready to go... what else can be better than spotting on airport on a slow Thursday afternoon Taiko Azahan is all about business here... negotiating and discussing about the best spots for capturing the Speedbird after the discussion was over... the weather went from this... to heavy rain... to heavy downpour Plan whatever you want... but you can never beat mother nature... KS Ong 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2015 Our transport was waiting for us at MTB. We were all very excited to jump into the van. Malaysia Airports team has been very accomodating and has a good team coordination. Never miss a chance to spot from the airside ops location At the Airside Operations Centre, we were briefed about safety, security and most importantly, making everyone happy. The guy behind Taiko Azahan was very intrigued with Taiko's proposal to shoot speedbird close to the runway, He likes Taiko's idea... All suit up and ready to go... Group pic with the team Then the weather turned from this To this within 30 mins. We can see and smell the rain coming. We prayed and hopped that the rain would stop by the time we arrive at our various spots. When at gate C2, the rain not that heavy anymore. We contimued praying harder for the rain to stop. T Azahan 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2015 Decision made! 4 jokers at Runway 32R area and 2 jokers at Gate Charlie 2. I decided to be with Jedi Ong at Charlie 2. Charlie 2. Thunderstorm gone. But it was still drizzling.... Jedi Ong.... A hardcore at work. I lepak only.....hehe......raining maaa..... Two MAHB staff keeping an eye on us in case we strayed far far away......kekekeke. But they were such a sport!
T Azahan 1 Report post Posted December 12, 2015 Oh man! Planning at Security premise had gone down the toilet bowl. Subject landed on 33!! Hantu betul...... Time 1600. Lepak was over. It was time to get busy! https://youtu.be/xN0gcLxKM8g Coming in slowly. Most beautiful sound of the day. My mind was no longer pondering on credit card debts..... Chaity 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2015 Thank you guys for the many updates over the night! Woke up and see many photos. Really suspense reading the threads with the weather playing tricks from minutes to minutes. What a let down Speedbird 33 landed on Rwy 33. Now left Jedi Ong and Taiko to capture the moments. flee 5 Report post Posted December 13, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the wonderful coverage, guys! What this truly shows is that aviation photography is by no means a piece of cake, even with the best planning and co-operation from the authorities! Oh man! Planning at Security premise had gone down the toilet bowl. Subject landed on 33!! Hantu betul...... A feeling of deja vu - this reminded me of the day when 9M-MNA arrived and did not land on the runway we had expected - what a great shame! All the planning and anticipation flushed down the drain.... More..... more..... Edited December 13, 2015 by flee
KS Ong 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2015 The rain has gone! Cool and clean air. We were able to walk out to the apron and take some shots. MAB staff was double confirming which aerobridge will be used to dock with the dreamliner The moment we have been waiting for when we see ground engineers from BA and KLM(why klm?) performed an FOD(Foreign Object Debris) walkaround. And the stand guidance system comes online But to our dissapointment, BA33 lands at Rwy33. 33 must be their lucky number that day. But then again, if she lands at 32R, this shot is not possible and those who were at MTB would able to capture the full side.

Norman 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2015 Well..... somebody has to cover from "the public view"..... So here I was.... in Anjung Tinjau, left most as I was informed to expect gate C2 After the rain.... Bue sky appeared....And... from Flightradar24, noticed that Speedbird33 was vectored to runway 33.... Thus this frantic speed by MAHB's 4WD with some spotters in it... Then she appeared from KLIA2 on Foxtrot (made 2-way when Golf closed for maintenance) .... escorted by the 4WD and a spotter on the rear deck..... Slowly taxying to the assigned gate Pity ..... no water cannon salute <_>
Jonathan Kong 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2015 After the rain subsided, i was at Alpha 6 Runway 32R to catch Speedbird's arrival... Edi decided to go Papi light there to catch the smoky landing Some test shots... i can imagine catching the Speedbird in this condition Dream on... that was when i heard on radio that the pilots requested for runway 33 instead of 32R. So we quickly jumped on to the truck and rushed all the way to somewhere near Bunga Raya Complex... to catch a glimpse of her and slowly she appeared in front of us Must take pictures with the new plane as background taxied past me gracefully While the other team was busy taking her pictures
T Azahan 1 Report post Posted December 13, 2015 Chaity, Flee, Hooi Yen. Thanks for the kind words. Hope you really enjoy thus far. Lots more coming..... Gorgeous.... BA and MAHB were such a sport. The plane left untouched for few minutes. So that Mwings could shoot a 'clean' aircraft. Jedi Ong grabbed the opportunity.... Eh, where the h** did he come from??? He was supposedly positioned at 32R. I guess, he could have run back like a cheetah....kekekeke. My 'Standard Operation Procedure'......NOSE!! Kekekekeke

T Azahan 1 Report post Posted December 14, 2015 Friendly wave. Both seats were occupied by Captains.... I love any Nose so much! MH provide ground handling...
KS Ong 1 Report post Posted December 14, 2015 We went into the terminal to rest, have some light refreshment as well as listening to the media statement by BA's Regional Commercial Manager based in Singapore, Robert Williams. While everyone has video cams, dslr cams, our Emperor Kong here has to stand out from the crowd, using only his ipon to capture the statements. Some of the Malaysia Airport staffs were enjoying the event. The tallest guy in the picture is Mr Sunir, Station Manager for BA at KLIA The was quite a crowd (mainly from the media and tour agents) in the plane. We have no trouble waiting for 'all' of them to come out before out turn to go in.
T Azahan 1 Report post Posted December 14, 2015 Jon, I also used ipon. I love those hats! Harrods came to Gate Charlie 2.... and served us English High-Tea.... MD of Malaysia Airports and British High Commission's Trade Commissioner also turned up.....
KS Ong 1 Report post Posted December 15, 2015 Just a quick run around in the economy (World Traveller) section. It seats 3-3-3 @ 31" pitch For the last row, it seats 2-3-2 (Row 43). There is quite a free space between the seat and the window. You can probably place a small hand carry there. Seat 41A/K is windowless. Media boxes are places under some seats
Chaity 1 Report post Posted December 16, 2015 Good coverage guys, I am sure it was adrenaline rush for those chasing the aircraft from 32R to Komplex Bunga Raya ! Norman, good of you to cover from Anjung Tinjau for different angle shots.
