Hornbill Skyways to complement FAX in Mulu sector

MIRI: Hornbill Skyways is complementing Fly Asian Xpress (FAX) flights to Mulu starting yesterday, the general manager of Royal Mulu Resort Alan Robinson said through a statement issued to the press.

The flights, to be mounted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, are well received by tour agents and guests alike, who were overwhelmed with excitement that support was finally being extended to the Mulu sector.

“With reliability problem from FAX affecting access to Mulu, a world heritage site, solved, this news brings great relief to everyone trying to get to Mulu,” said Robinson, adding that the ancient forest - home to about 3,500 plant species, more than 8,000 fungi and 20,000 animals - was an oasis that had to be seen by the world.

“With assistance from Hornbill Skyways, which will mount the extra flights, the future looks more promising. This is an exciting piece of news, and (tour) agents I am sure cant wait for MAS to start operating come Oct 1,” Robinson said.

He added that the flight arrangement between Hornbill Skyways and Fly Asian Xpress had come about following the outcome of a survey conducted by the resort management.

“The additional flights have already put smiles on the faces of many local people and agents who are specialising in selling and promoting Mulu.

Flight arrangements can be made directly with Hornbill Skyways by calling them at 082-455737 or Royal Mulu Resort at 085-790100. Flights are departing Miri at 2.45pm and Mulu at 3.25pm.

The managing director of Hornbill Skyways, Aidan Wing, however could not be reached for his comment yesterday.

Hornbill should've done it long ago.

In fact RAS should've been operated by Hornbill, together with Sabah Air.

The Nomad bird is now in Layang Layang Aerospace colours, presumably bought from Sabah Air ?

I suppose there is a more pressing need in Sarawak, what with the investments already made in Mulu. Hence, the more proactive approach by the Sarawak govt, plus they are more able to afford it compared to Sabah govt !

But before things can get better in Sabah, we must educate those politicians that there is a "local airline" in Sabah!
