Turbulence cause 24 injured in Vietnam Air flight to Paris

Accident: Vietnam B772 over Russia on Oct 20th 2010, turbulence injures 30

 

A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration VN-A147 performing flight VN-535 from Hanoi (Vietnam) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France), was enroute overhead Russia about 2.5 hours before estimated landing when the airplane encountered severe turbulence injuring 30 occupants of the aircraft. The airplane continued to Paris for a safe landing. 6 passengers and 3 crew were taken to hospitals, the other injured were treated at the airport.

 

The airline reported 21 minor injuries plus 9 injured taken to hospitals with the worst injury being a broken nose. The crew therefore continued to Paris. No technical malfunction had occurred.

 

The airport initially reported 24 later 33 injuries ranging from bruises to broken bones.

Here we go again: FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS WHENEVER SEATED !!!

 

Can see why 3 crew could be injured (as they probably walking around/serving), but 30 other people (= > 10%) not fastened will cause these injuries...
