Eddy Liew 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) The government also announced the deployment of Hawk attack jets at Tawau. Don't Malaysia have an air squadron in east Malaysia all this while? RMAF is based in Labuan, which is not in Esscom area. And the Hawk attack jets are indeed spotted at Tawau, please see Tawau Airport under Observation Hill. Edited December 19, 2014 by Eddy Liew
Amirul Mazlan 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2014 Apache or Rooivalk are more effective in low and slow combat compared to hawk.. I hope it wont be long until we secure such attack helicopters. Having said that, when we look at our past defense procurement contract, i wouldnt be surpised if Airbus Helicopters win the deal with their Tigre
KK Lee 5 Report post Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) Bandit preferred mode of transport is speed boat, believe helicopter equipped with minigun and night vision should be enough for the job. Believe the challenge is readiness and response time, how fast the helicopter could intercept the speed boat. Believe BAe Hawk at TWU is more for deterrent purpose. Fitri Shukri 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 The RMAF Hawk 200 will still be based in Labuan AFB. TWU will only permanently base a helicopter for special forces quick reaction, possibly a Nuri.
