Was in Labuan last week. Got this photo of a USAF P8 Poseidon parked at the Pengkalan Udara Labuan on the morning of 18th June 2014. Read somewhere it was there for Ex CARAT 2014.

For Labuan...the Il-76 cannot be said to be rare...seems to be a relatively regular visitor..

Also, there were visits by AN-26.

Oh ok thanks or the info

One of the interesting thing about Labuan is one of the few airports in Malaysia where you can see fighters flying in regularly as it has air base which houses the BAE Hawks.

Some 'behind the scene' on the coverage day.

Off and on, Malaysia Airport will post some interesting topics in their official Instagram / Insta Story. Do constantly check it out. Chin, Anggar and I responded to their Insta Story below for the coverage and gotten the invitation. All logistical arrangements to LBU and back were done on our own.

Met up with Chin at Mc D for beakfast/brunch/lunch while waiting for Anggar, whom arrived in MH Retro. Our morning blur, 'sotong' face.

We then proceeded to meet up with the airport manager and head of security to discuss and plan out the coverage. In their notice board, their top organisation chart and Malindo inaugural notice.

A bit more from the preparation for the water canon salute. The LBU fire department is managed by the RMAF instead of MAHB. It is kinda intersting to see the runway direction placed in the firestation garage.

Malindo staffs preping the arrival touches at bay 2 while the fire department test-run their salute.

We were all escorted by Avsec crew to scout for viable locations to shoot the arriving aircraft.

We decided to split up to ensure greater coverage.

I was task for the runway approach.

Lighting initially was not that great as it is in the afternoon and we only had RMAF hawks and Maswings ATR to practice. Raya Airways was scheduled but did not arrive on time which is normal for any cargo ops.

We were informed that our main guest 9M-LNW was deployed and was assigned to dock at Gate 2 and thankfully lighting was well improved then.

Her touchdown moment.

Continuing where we left off.

We drove back into the apron as there was a group photo needed.

While waiting for the crew to come down we test a few shots. Its probably the first time where i actually fully utilized my wide angle lens.

It had to be done quick as the turnaround was shot.

We move into our position as the aircraft prepares for pushback.

The most important person in LBU airport, En Fikri. We were very thankful for his support during the coverage. Looking forward to more collaboration in the future.
