KLIA is Asia-Pacific's Third Most Internationally-Connected

Recommended Posts

Six of Asia Pacific's largest airports are amongst the Top 20 most connected airports worldwide according to OAG's International Megahubs Index 2018, which ranks those airports with the highest ratio of scheduled international connections to the number of destinations served.

Asia Pacific's Top 5 Most Connected Megahubs are Singapore Changi 8th, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International 10th, Kuala Lumpur International 12th, Hong Kong International 13th and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi 14th.

This proves that you don't need triple daily non-stops to SFO/double daily nonstops to LAX/4x daily to NYC (or any service by a US carrier), direct connections to most European hubs on LH/AF/OS/LX/LO/AY/DY, service to AU/NZ on QF/NZ, 7x daily to DOH on QR, etc to rank highly! Kudos to KLIA!

Its thanks to AK group with its mostly multiple daily flights to all the various regional destinations.

Agreed and in addition, both AK and OD have contributed to destinations not served by many carriers especially mainline carriers. :clapping:

SIN is still numero uno in Asia Pacific, and KLIA is behind CGK. Beating HKG is somewhat unexpected considering their international financial hub status, and BKK with their European connectivity.

The ranking is measured based on RATIO of the scheduled international connections to the number of destinations served. KUL is ahead of HKG doesnt mean KUL has more international connections than HKG. It could be because HKG has many destinations in China which are considered as domestic.

As for SIN, the ratio should be 100%, no ?
