Mohd Suhaimi Fariz 2 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 It doesn't look very severe, just another aquaplaning incident on landing.
Sandeep G 1 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 Still quite serious.. Aircraft will certainly be AOGed and engine seems to have ingested grass/mud etc

zamim 0 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 BWN weather always notorrious of some sort.. Bad weather doesnt mean u have to divert as long as the visibility allows for landing Not only visibility, you also need to consider cloud base and wind condition especially the direction and speed. All covered in the metar and also in tafor. Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 Scheduled for all four BI aircraft to depart from BKI between 1030 to 11am today That would be an interesting scene on the taxiway with a queue of yellow tails
JuliusWong 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 Glad that everyone is safe and sound. When you have only one runway at an international airport, you will have a big issue since all flight departing and arriving need to be rescheduled and diverted respectively. Am not sure if this is true, AirAsia pilot seems to be the daring lot by insisting on landing despite the adverse weather condition......although within the limit. Happened three times already thus far. Hope they can fix the plane, not scrap it. Another camp to set up in Brunei to fix 9M-AQA. Two CFM engines gone......million of $$ gone.......AK account needs to take a hit this quarter.

For AK, it is one less aircraft in the fleet for some time...
Al Khaymi 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 Scheduled for all four BI aircraft to depart from BKI between 1030 to 11am today That would be an interesting scene on the taxiway with a queue of yellow tails Apparently no go. Latest word from the DCA, airport close till appx 4pm. A whole lot of angry passengers right now at the airport esp those with connecting flights. I think it is the insurers who will have to cough up. For AK, it is one less aircraft in the fleet for some time... For other airlines with disruptions especially Royal Brunei, are they able to claim losses to Air Asia's insurance as well?
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 With the wind and rain we are having here this morning, maybe the BI birds have to stay here a bit yet
Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 It is unfortunate for BI. AK did the mess, BI bears the full brunt of it. The whole country only has one paved runway that can accommodate airliners.
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 Wonder why it's taking so long to reopen the runway there ? Simple mind thinks it's just matter of getting the damaged bird out of the way, sweep up the messy bits and it's good to go ?
leon t 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 yes so far all 3 aircraft landing and skidding off runway was due to thnderstorm heavy rain and windy conditions - even though it maybe within near the max aircraft's landing parameters, but pilots' skills and competency is another thing. It would have been better to divert or circle till weather improves provided they have enough fuel for holding. AK must instill more of safety culture and must not discipline pilots who chose to divert in marginal weather conditions. Believed only the first incident where one of AK earlier 737-300 had a nose wheel collapse too.
Andi C 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 Just curious: Were BKI bound BI paxs allowed to disembark permanently in BKI? Or do they need to be flown back to BWN to retake another BKI bound flight? (As I know BI carries a lot of actual BKI bound paxs in their network)

Simple mind thinks it's just matter of getting the damaged bird out of the way, sweep up the messy bits and it's good to go ? I was told the ground surrounding the stranded aircraft is too soggy. Continuous down pour is hindering the removal of aircraft from its position. Brunei tower reported a new opening time to 6pm now. Oh dear
zeqa 1 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 RB confirm airport opens at 1800 hrs
Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 BI's (I hate using "RB" as that would suggest Syrian Airlines) confirmation is very much dependent on DCA's confirmation.
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) I was told the ground surrounding the stranded aircraft is too soggyIf BWN has been experiencing the sort of weather we've been served at BKI last couple of days, there is no chance the ground there would have had opportunity to go less soggy Just curious: Were BKI bound BI paxs allowed to disembark permanently in BKI? Or do they need to be flown back to BWN to retake another BKI bound flight? You know, that is the sort of idiotic bureaucracy we all take for granted does not happen normally - but then who is to say we are living in normal times ?!
