According to Pakistan's Geo News, PIA CEO Bernd Hildenbrand has been placed in Exit Control List (ECL) that prevents him from leaving Pakistan.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating cases involving PIA during his service with the airline including wet lease of SriLankan Airlines Airbus A330-300 (4R-ALN) for PIA Premier service and the issue of PIA Airbus A310-300 (AP-BEQ) sent to Malta where it was used in shooting of a movie about Operation Entebbe and later the A310 was flown to Leipzig Halle Airport, Germany, where it is parked. PIA suffered loss of millions of dollars in these cases, according to news sources. Local forum also mentioned FIA will also investigate the lease of 12 A320 from various lessor which was stated to be higher than norm market value.

The name will remain in ECL till the completion of investigation by FIA.

Not sure if AirAsia will get entangled in this, they have three A320 with PIA.
  1. 9M-AFG as AP-BLX
  2. 9M-AFL as AP-BLY
  3. 9M-AFM as AP-BLZ

These belong to Asia Aviation Capital (AAC) - Airasia is in the process of selling off a substantial percentage of its shareholdings in AAC.

I think Sri Lankan is in more trouble - the PIA leases on their A330s are all cancelled.
