  1. MH-QR is a true partnership, MH being a mostly regional carrier is leveraging on QR’s strength in terms of number of destinations and excellent service. remember how christoph mueller managed to get rid of many MH European destinations and sign a partnership with EK? then he resigned and got a job in EK! By then, MH was effectively reduced to a minor player on the Europe-Aus/NZ route. MH seems to have bad luck - the other dodgy deal was with AK!
  2. They are reducing services to many cities in Asia … not sure what is going on… it’s not just KUL
  3. MH had offices in very premium locations around the globe. So far from where they are now
  4. Great news, maybe the MAHB report is not a fantasy as we thought! Waiting for Iberia and QF now!
  5. Unfortunately MH is very reactionary. I don’t blame the government looking at their past performances over the years. at a time when other airlines are cashing in on the resurgence in travel, MH is struggling to find aircraft. Their MAX-8 interiors are sad.. they should have gone for what SQ went for. They you have flexibility to use them on longer medium haul routes and keep a slightly premium product. anyways … it is what it is
  6. AY announced KUL to start in May 2007… then they decided to move to HKG instead. BA/IB/LH - those will be a huge surprise (especially IB). hope LH will be able to use their 789s to KUL, and IB with 359s!
  7. AF always had a problem with KUL and MH. In fact, they were the ones blocking MH’s entry to Skyteam which was supported by KLM. in the end, AF wanted GA and VN to join them, but no MH. same with QF - sponsored MH’s entry to OW then doesn’t want to work with MH
  8. https://simpleflying.com/air-india-planned-international-destinations-2024/ well well, looks like the AI rumour might be coming true!
  9. Woah, that will be something if it is really true! I find it surprising that such a large volume hub like KUL does not get QF, and also AI services (considering many Chinese carriers, MH, AK/D7 and OD serve china from KUL).
  10. Great, I was wondering when both would restart KUL services! IA at one point was flying to KUL from Basra via Baghdad … or the other way round… sounds like aircraft maintenance may be a bit suspect though!
  11. Thanks for sharing guys.. very informative and slightly more positive !
  12. the A339s they are getting will be only for replacement. Expansion will not be possible I’m sure! If and when they want to expand further afield to Europe and US, they will be limited by lack of aircraft delivery slots! such a shame .. would have been nice to see a few more A350s and some 787s!
  13. This is MH problem… full government interference in the past and poor forward planning. Even VN has 787s!!! Come on lah. They should have replaced their 777s with long range aircraft such as the 787s or A350s. They just got rid of 13 777s without replacement! They may not need as many long range aircraft due to their contraction but at least add more narrow body aircraft .. don’t replace like for like! They should have added a few more to allow for situations such as this
  14. Thanks guys, it makes more sense now. It’s the whole operations of petronas that will be under scrutiny and sanctions. the Thais are happy to provide fuel for Mahan. I guess they are not too reliant on their oil companies in terms of overall country revenue and bailouts of GLCs! they do have a huge domestic market as well which helps I’m sure.
  15. Yeah KU finished end of October. The QF story is just incredible. They fly all over ASEAN but avoid KUL. I really don’t get it. surely MNL and CGK are not premium destinations, and I’m sure visa requirements will be quite tough too! I also don’t understand why KUL fuel operators are all scared of US sanctions? Surely we have petronas who can supply fuel to Mahan air? they already fly to quite a few destinations including BKK and HKT - are the fuel operators there not using US companies? I hope RJ will restart the KUL tag on… and it would be great to see IA coming back but with their new 787s!
