For some reason these photos remind me of Pripyat (near Chernobyl). What with that ferris wheel nearby.

Excellent shots, Pieter.

Oh my... alpha delta alpha.. was it at a plane junkyard / graveyard? I dunno but I did slightly shudder looking at the decrepit state of an aircraft.

That B707... looks like it became a 'lawn gnome', eh? ^_^

Thanks for sharing Pieter, not something we see everyday.. (well unless you're one of the occupants under or around those old fuselage :) )

WOw the B707-- Looks like some sort of restaurant below it?

It is a restaurant now, however, it was closed when I was there, so could only 'shoot' her from outside the fence :(

Pieter,

What is the model of the second aircraft ..?

Thanks for sharing sir ..

Boeing 707-344...

Currently, the same registration is being used for an Airbus A320

Hi Pieter,

Excellents photos and a great new topic thread, as museum's & off airport aircraft can be 'Gems' when found, photographed & shared.

It is a restaurant now, .....

I'm guessing it's not located at an airport ?

In which case, someone would have had to spend plenty of effort (and at some cost) to dismantle the bird, shift it to the present location and assemble it back into one piece

These interesting pics sure get the imagination going ! :good: :)

Isn't there a similar bird by the National Museum as well?

Thanks for sharing guys, especially Pieter. Lovely Hang Kong Viet Nam's 707 :) Wonder what it would be like inside.

I found this puppy *outside* a museum in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, so I guess it qualifies for this thread.

Pieter, this machine is connected to the Dutch, so these pics are for you. Btw what's the connection? :D

Naim,

The Harvard was also used by the Dutch as a trainer up into the 70's....cannot think of another Dutch connection with this one (unless you mean the squadron-logo ?)...

Nice shots, bro... :drinks:

The above plane was donated by the Dutch govt to Indonesia in 1949. :)

Pieter, am I allowed to post photos of a Mitsubishi Zero currently store inside Auckland's War Memorial museum? Not exactly a wreckage though it might be a relic :)

you should see it in white... It looks better than this one.

The a/c have been there since 1988 or 1989. At that time, I was really amazed to see an a/c on top of a gate of a house some where in Cheras. :D

Wish, I could do this in the Netherlands: having a gate-guard at my grounds... :good:

Is that even approve by the municipal board? LOL. It's kinda unique though & any history about the plane & how it ended up at the house?

i seriously doubt that too! all we need it for someone to submit that to thestar thumbnails, and probably, we could see loads of bashing regarding that person's house the next day or so.

Here are a couple of wrecks I took photos of during a visit to Sabah at the end of 2008.

First up a very rare Westland Widgeon, believed to be ex 9M-AOP, at the Chi Hwa Primary School in Sandakan.

Sandakan.jpg

Second up is a Cherokee mounted atop the Sabah Flying Club at Keningau. Anyone know the identity of this one?

Any other wrecks in Sabah?

Geoff
