Airliners.Net New Look

Recommended Posts

Yes, I am. In fact, that's how I started seriously in 'this business' back in 2006. I was surprised to find out later on that forumers in MalaysianWings and the Transportation Subforum in Forum Pencakar Langit Malaysia of Skyscrapercity have been wondering who the hell I was before I joined both forums (which I had no idea about them at that time), eventually.

The head of Airliners.Net website, Mr. Paulo Emanuele died in a tragic plane crash about 3 hours ago.

It is with deep regret that we announce that the head of the site, Paulo Emanuele, was killed in a plane crash here in Santa Monica just a short while ago.

From an executive at DM:

" ... Dear Airliners Crew,

It is with the deepest sorrow that I let know Paulo died this evening in a tragic plane crash. His plane took off out of Santa Monica Airport at 5:00 PM and lost power. Paulo attempted to return to the airport, but the plane crashed on the runway. This is all we know at this time, as I hear more I will let you all know. I know many of you were dear friends with Paulo.

Paulo loved Airliners and everything it stood for.

Paulo was an amazing Pilot, an amazing photographer, an amazing friend, and an amazing father.

He will be deeply missed ... "

Reviving this old thread with a new twist!

MH has been in a bad image in A.Net at the moment.

1. Many travellers questioned MH's 5 star status and very poor catering in Ecnomy class for inter-continental flight.

MH's catering is quite disappointing compared to numerous Asian and ME carriers. The airline has been focusing on cost-cutting for a while now.

Wow, the meals are truly a big dissapointment, considering MH is 5 star ranked.

It sounds like MH serves their meals the opposite of what everyone else does. The snack first then the main meal.

There has been a huge critism towards MH at home soil with regards to their massive cut in inflight catering, but little improvement has been made.

economy catering is dissapointing to what it was a few years ago.

but by then was served 2 very nice meals (full plates) and good snacks throughout the flight. Your meals look more discounted now.

calling MH a five star airline is something that need to be taken with a pinch of salt IMHO.

Yikes, that's a pretty poor start to the trip, I actually expected something better from MH, shame.

The catering I experienced back then is very much the same, both in quality and presentation, as what is shown here though, so it wasn't just recently that the service has been cut back. It was fine, except anyone going in with the expectation of experiencing a flight made less ordinary by award-winning cabin crew would have felt shortchanged.

So this is what the 5-star carrier looks like these days.

the food looks pretty poor. The sandwich looks like a snack you get on some intra-European flights and the presentation of the main meal is pretty poor, definitely not something I would expect from an airline like MH.

The food looks awful. Is SQ the only airline that serves two full hot meals on a Western Europe - USA flight? (FRA-JFK gets full breakfast and full lunch).

2. Delays on MH 16 KUL-AMS on quite a frequent occurence.

06/07-Oct: Scheduled arrival 07-Oct 06:35 / Actual arrival 09:25 via FRA!

Today's MH016 was supposed to be on time with an ETA in AMS of 06:28lt, but they where indeed diverted to FRA.

I'm not exactly sure why they diverted as the reason was not clearly mentioned in the diversion telex but I believe the flight was running short on fuel. The other flights where delayed mostly due some small technical problems and last minute aircraft swaps caused by this.
