Mohd Azizul Ramli 2 Report post Posted June 26, 2008 MAS extends low fare offer to tickets bought at travel agents The Star, Thursday June 26, 2008 PETALING JAYA: By the end of July, travellers can buy Malaysia Airline's Everyday Low Fare tickets through travel agents. Currently, they can only do so through the airline’s website. This latest move will enable those without Internet access to also buy discounted tickets which start from as low as zero ringgit. MAS senior general manager of transition management Dr Amin Khan said the arrangement with the travel agents was made possible as part of the second phase of the Passenger Service System for the e-ticketing project. He said the airline was also working out with local telecommunication companies to allow passengers to buy their tickets via their mobile phones through SMS by year’s end. “As of now, we are in the midst of simplifying the steps so that passengers can book their tickets with only two steps via SMS,” said Dr Amin, who spoke to reporters at a press briefing, yesterday. Dr Amin said the system had also enabled the airline to come up with an e-check-in system for passengers at the airports. “Our check-in kiosk at the airports will soon be able to also issue luggage tags to enable travellers to drop off their bags at a special counter. If passengers know how heavy their bags are, they can simply pay for excess luggage online or at the kiosk. There will be no need to line up,” he said.
