S V Choong 4 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) Anyways, if you feel that you are being unfairly taxed, you can always refer to their superiors. Those front liners at airport inspection lanes are usually staff from the lower ranks , and may be too overzealous on their jobs. Ask to speak to their pegawai as he / she may be a bit more accomodating, especially if it involves personal effects. Thanks for the handy tips, Rozhan. On a side note, the Australian and New Zealand governments had for many years been cracking down on Aussies and Kiwis who went abroad to engage in sex with children, especially those who travelled to Thailand and other developing countries. If anyone was engaged in such activities and it was disclosed to the authorities, they will end up in trial and subsequently receive jail sentence. So child pornography is no exception. Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted February 12, 2008 http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?p=3905505 SQ pun kena http://au.news.yahoo.com/video/local/sa/ It is serious gentlemen... Its a worldwide crackdown. I may agree with this child porno crackdown. I do support. Sad to the Pilot...either MH or SQ or the other airline...they caught 3 Pilots in a week!!! The SQ pilot is a 41-yr old M'sian, Captain Ng Kok Yauw. Also caught at ADL So what is the common denominator...pilots or M'sians or ADL customs?
E Faizal 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 Only think i didn't understand.... Is it the customs found the "movie" in a CD on his laptop bag or movie in software format in his laptop for both pilot? I don't think there is a Law for them to look into other people computer contains. It is already out of privacy rule.

Mohd Faridz Mohd Yunus 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 I do agree that child porn is extremely wrong!!!...but hey, whats going on here?is it that suddenly the aussie customs are having a clampdown on crew or what?are there any reports of pax been searched for their laptop contents?..been in this job for quite a while now,and honestly I am starting to think that crew are being treated like criminals or possible terrorist,as nearly everywhere we go we always get scrutinised!!...and when something like this happen,it will definitely be hot news in the papers...although I do agree there are some bad apples among the crew members... Md. Rudy 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2008 This is ridiculous! From what I gathered, these cases now involved 1 MAS FO, 1 SQ FO & 1 SQ Capt. Only MAS FO had child porn (below 18 yrs according to Australian Law). The rest are adult porn movies. If u go to Australia, there are plenty of Porn Video Shops all over the place. So I really fail to understand why it is an offense to have porn on your laptop but its okay to sell/rent in porn shops? Is it because Aussie govt cannot tax your porn movie in your laptop unlike the porn video shop??? At least in Malaysia/Singapore you cannot find shop selling porn DVD/stuffs in open market! Also, why only Malaysia & Singapore pilots being checked & news splased out of proportions? Are Aussie morally so superior ? For all we know the custom officers/judges have porn movies/ watch porn themselves, but not in laptop since they don't travel a lot. Somehow I think the Aussie must think its okay for them to watch porn movies but not others!!
Naim 6 Report post Posted February 14, 2008 Friday February 15, 2008 Porn crackdown at Aussie airports nets 19 THE crackdown on porn at Australian airports which resulted in the arrest of a Singapore Airlines pilot last Saturday, has netted 19 people since January last year. Two others – another Singaporean and a Malaysian Airlines pilot – were also arrested in the last one week. The crackdown appears to be confined to Australia, although arrests have been made from time to time elsewhere. On Tuesday, for example, Italian police arrested a 55-year-old university professor after he stepped off a plane from Bangkok at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci airport. The arrest was part of a country-wide crackdown on child pornography. In Dubai last November, a British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) deejay was arrested for allegedly carrying pornographic DVDs into the country. The Australian action appears to be a concerted effort aimed at stopping the smuggling of pornography into the country via Adelaide, according to a statement on the country's Customs website. The website quoted Australian Customs national manager of investigations, Richard Janeczko, as saying the department was seeing an increase in interceptions of objectionable pornography at the border. Meanwhile, the SIA pilot at the centre of the porn storm, Captain Ng Kok Yauw, has arrived back in Singapore. The father of two has been suspended by the airline pending investigations. He was charged by Australian authorities on Monday and fined A$12,000 (RM35,000). He pleaded guilty and paid the fine. – The Straits Times / Asia News Network http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...09&sec=asia

Rozhan 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Copied from another forum. Somehow I think there is more than what is seen on the surface. I realised that the Aussies (like other Western countries) use the surname of a person, unlike us here. So 'Ahmad Said' is the name of the father...., and a very revealing info. Rumours from a popular blog Rockybru had the same idea a few days ago. Ahmad Said son of ACA director? Ok, today is Tuesday, a no-newspaper day. But a good story is a good story is a good story and I'm proud to say, on the eve of the 2nd anniversary of my departure from the paper, that the Mail's front page story today is a damn good one. Ibrahim Mohd Nor, the new owner of the tabloid, seems to be doing something right. According to the story, Malaysia Airlines has SUSPENDED Ahmad Said, 25, who was convicted and fined by an Aussie court last week for a crime linked to CHILD PORN (or KIDDIE PORN, not just PORN). Just think of Nurin and Sharlinie and you'll get the idea why this is no small crime. The Star has a story, too, but it's quite a basic story. ['Porn Pilot' under probe] But the big question still begs answering. Is Ahmad Said linked to a big gun in the Anti-Corruption Agency? Talk is that he is the son of a director of the ACA. I would like to see the newspapers can get down to the bottom of this. Something stinking is in the air.........
