wikipedia.org stated that jetstar will use LCCT...

add more people to the cramped terminal..

 

Can't trust wikipedia though. I think they may use the satellite as the Jetstar Australia uses it.

All Asian fares however don't have taxes included. I mean, 0.88 is ultracheap, but inclusive of taxes is how much?

 

I believe Jetstar will use Satellite or even the main terminal (how Air Asia did it in the past) as it can sort of feed passengers onto the Sydney service. Don't know how Sydney passengers can get to Singapore on Jetstar though once they get to KL.

The main terminal is now exclusively used by MH (save for the few SV Hajj flight), so if they don't use the LCCT then it will be the satellite terminal.

AirAsiaX/XAX/D7 uses MTB for charter flights from DAC.Did that flight last week.(D7 2994/2995)

Chan: Deal with Australia bars it from KL-Singapore route

The Star, Wednesday January 9, 2008

 

SEPANG: Jetstar – one of two low cost airlines nominated by Singapore to operate flights between the island city and KLIA – may not be able to fly the route because of a clause in the Malaysia-Australia aviation agreement.

 

Jetstar is operated by Qantas, an Australian company, and access to air-routes are determined by Government-to-Government agreements, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy.

 

“We will have to look into our aviation services agreement with Australia to see if Jetstar is allowed to fly that route because currently, Jetstar is only allowed to operate from KLIA to Sydney.

 

“I think the agreement with Australia does not allow that. Because it is an Australian airline, we still have to look into the agreement,” he said after the attending the launch of the KLIA’s 10th anniversary celebrations here yesterday.

 

He added that under an agreement reached recently with Singapore, both countries would be allowed to have two flights more daily other than those already operated by Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines.

 

“For Malaysia, we only designated AirAsia to fly this route while Singapore has designated two.”

 

Last month, Singapore’s Transport Ministry had announced that it was awarding Jetstar Asia and Tiger Airways the rights to operate a daily service each to Kuala Lumpur from Feb 1.

 

Jetstar had advertised promotional fares for its direct flights into Singapore from RM1.88 for certain credit card holders for the travel period between Feb 1 and Oct 25 but stated that the flights were still subject to regulatory approval.

 

Aviation industry sources pointed out that the airline that is hubbed in Singapore is actually a joint venture between three Singaporean parties and Jetstar of Australia. The joint-venture airline is actually called Jetstar Airsia Airways.

 

“For branding purposes, the airline is now marketed as Jetstar with the electronic ticket booking engine using the same one as the Jetstar in Australia. It is just like AirAsia and AirAsia X.

 

“The three Singaporean parties, including Government investment arm Temasek, own 51% of the Jetstar Asia Airways. Qantas owns 49% but manages the airline,” said an analyst.

I think what Jetstar may do is just get Valuair to operate the flight...the same way/reason Valuair flies to Indonesia iso Jetstar due to air services agreement issues

Jetstar Gets O.K. For KL-Singapore Route

 

 

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- Low cost carrier Jetstar Asia Airways is eligible to ply the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore route under the newly liberalised air services agreement between the two countries, the Transport Ministry said today.

 

"It is majority-controlled by Singaporean investors, and under the agreement, budget carriers nominated by the Singapore government are allowed to fly the route," a ministry official said.

 

Jetstar Asia Airways is 51 percent-owned by Singapore investors including its government investment arm Temasek Holdings. The remaining stake is held by Australia's Qantas, which also manages the low cost carrier.

 

A newspaper had reported today that Jetstar Asia may not be allowed on the route according to a clause in the Malaysia-Australia Air Services Agreement.

 

The official stressed that there is no such clause, saying: "Even Jetstar Australia has the right to fly the route under the existing Malaysia-Australia Air Services Agreement.

 

"This is because if it decides to fly from Australia to KLIA through Singapore, it is allowed to do so under the fifth freedom right," he added.

 

Jetstar Australia is a wholly-owned low cost carrier of Qantas.

 

Last month, Singapore's Transport Ministry awarded Jetstar Asia and Tiger Airways the right to operate a daily service each to Kuala Lumpur from February 1, with AirAsia also plying the route after both governments agreed to open the route to low cost carriers.

 

Jetstar has advertised promotional fares for its direct flights into Singapore from RM1.88 for certain credit card holders for travel between February 1 and October 25.

 

The Transport Ministry in a statement explained that the aviation pact with Australia allows carriers from that country, such as Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue, to ferry passengers between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur but the point of origin for the flights needs to be in Australia.

 

"However, the Ministry has so far yet to receive any applications for such a service," it added.

Jetstar Asia will be using the satellite terminal. Tiger Airways however, will be operating flights in and out of the LCCT. Not a surpirse, because Jetstar isn't exactly what we call a low-cost carrier.

FWIW Jetstar Asia uses T1 in SIN instead of the Budget Terminal, so going by that I think there's a good probability that it'd not be at the LCCT in KUL.
