Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted January 31, 2018 Can MAB use A380s, which have been moved to the charter op with a new AOC, as a supersub? Of course. No different from AK using D7 aircraft to operate some of its services many months ago. In fact, any airline could use the ex-MH 380s.
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted February 1, 2018 MAS will have to be careful now since nobody is willing to bail them or loan them. Haah-hahaha (I, being contributor to LHDN and GST must then be a nobody)

Did a dummy booking, saw that it will be until end of February. 1 March onwards back to A333. Yes, the A380 will now be playing the role of supersub during peak traffic periods or when the A333s are in short supply due to maintenance. They were used to HKG during the CNY rush and will also be deployed to NRT. In summer, they will be restored on the LHR services as well...
Mushrif A 3 Report post Posted February 18, 2018 There is at least one MH 333 sitting forlornly minus both engines at KUL. So, less one from the fleet.

flee 5 Report post Posted February 19, 2018 Curious any service bulletin issued on this or only limited to mab fleet? MAB cannot afford to have another air crash after those twin losses in 2014. Safety checks conducted with the cooperation of the engine manufacturer following incidents would be prudent - there is no need to wait for any service bulletin. Josh T 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2018 I'm actually glad they're holding on to the A380s a little bit longer. It really is a magnificent aircraft and still my favourite to fly in even after the A350 and the Nightmareliner. The A380 would also be very handy for those peak season flights because the A333 simply does not have enough capacity.

leon t 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2018 once the LHR goes full A350s, the A380s will not be needed except for temporary services when the A330s goes tech or in heavy maintenance or temp capacity increase but at most only 2 A380s are needed at most. The others will not do much flying except for occasional haj charters. But its very expensive to keep these A380s around and will keep MAB from even making close to breakeven.
