MASKargo operations

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

With the sad departure of our long time friends 9M-MHJ Kota Kinabalu (formerly Johor Bahru) and 9M-MHI Kuching. I wonder if MAS have decided to dry lease any freighters than 100% rely on Air Atlanta Icelandic? I guess MAS cannot be bother with it until the two SUD 747-4H6/Fs coming online by end of next year?

How are they going to cover the gaps, as I understand they are not allowed to fly into Japan with TF registered a/c. Any insight into this matter? Cheers

Do you guys think MASKargo should go on their own?

The 777-200LR/F will be a good choice as a freighter. Perhaps MAS Kargo should look into it smile.gif Just an idea

They wanted to dry-lease a B742 from Air Atlanta, but that has run into some problems. As of now the crew are unemployed (makan gaji buta!) and some are being redeployed to their previous fleet. The FEs are the most affected since they have nowhere to go.

So it means MASKargo have to temporarily suspend their Japan routes?

I bet they must have received a good price offer for their ex-freighters 9M-MHI and MHJ, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to let go of them.

Exactly ! But unfortunately they don't have the money to do so, even if they do have lots of cash to burn, i would suggest them to use the money on upgrading their passenger aircraft, replacing old aircraft as well as buying brand new planes such as 787 or 350.

we muz not forget tht MASKARGO is an arm of MAS which is making money....wouldnt it be wise to invest in something thts making money..but by the way..i thought MASKARGO had their own balance sheet..and the two new 747F is not under PMB but instead bought by themselves..correct me if i am wrong

MAB Kargo withdraws 747 freighters in favour of A330s

Malaysia Airlines' cargo unit, MAB Kargo, has removed its Boeing 747-400 freighters from service.
The carrier says the aircraft have been withdrawn in favour of operating Airbus A330-200 freighters. This has been facilitated by the addition of a third A330 freighter to its fleet "recently".
