Tamon 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 Tamon, Why not combine both airports: see my "Globetrotter" topic for pictures and for some ideas Did a HKG-KUL-BKK triangle trip 2.5 weeks ago... Hi Pieter, good idea and good destinations but I did 10 days BKK in March already and I doubt that I could get so much new stuff there again... meanwhile I compared the hotel rates at KUL with HKG and at KUL they seem to be much lower which is good for me...a poor student from Germany will try to decide next week...thanks so far ! greets Tamon

Tamon 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 Tamon, Care to share some of your Russian shots here, also share how spotting is done there (you need Russian 'spotter' contacts, etc.) ?? Hi Pieter, sure I can do that No Russian contacts were needed as the tour was organized and guided by Geroge Pick Travel. They did a good job organising ramp access and flights in Moscow and Nizhni Novgorod. Will post some pics later, greets Tamon
Norman 1 Report post Posted September 9, 2006 For the benefit of some spotters who've been asking about the "Ladang Touchdown 14L" location. Good for afternoon shots... morning=Bad Backlit Please be aware, this place is within a palm estate that has an owner (MAB perhaps)... and they still harvesting the fruits So you're on your own here Advice... please go in a group if you're first timer Bring along your umbrella (rain & sun), water, snacks plastic bags (to take back your rubbish)... and of course your camera... PS.... if your car can be scratched... can drive up to the spotting hill but parking is limited... Walking distance from parking shown is about 300m

Mohd Yohan 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2006 Bad influenced by Mr Azahan.... "Pocitive climb.... gears up!" WohhhoooOoooo London here i come tue tulis kota baru, ke london gak ke? Oh Jonathan, stop it! I cannot concentrate or remove the thought of going to KLIA for spotting from my head! Seriously, you guys better get all the shots from this no.1 spot before they complete the runway works!!! u mean all planes are landing at 14L and are takeoff at 32R right? Walking distance from parking shown is about 300m from the map, which one is which? compared to the 1st map on page1 i'm still confused on where's the obsevation hill since in the map looks like the observation hill is between Petornal tank and the runway....i've been there once scouting for the observation hill...izz the one on the rocky area....looks kindda far for spotting..leh nampak belon ngak? any spotters next weekend? 16/17 September? All aircraft will takeoff and landing in one direction so not possible to takeoff from 14L and another landing 32R... sure head-on Map on page1 refers to Weather Station and Obs Hill... ie major spotting locations which are easily accesible. But due to runway upgrading works on 14R/32L Weather Station is currently temporarily "closed" for spotters... no aircraft Obs hill... easy to look for... behind Petronas Station... but Officially Prohibited. The satellite pix above here shows the commonly known as "Ladang" or "14L Touchdown". Pls read the post for clearer info. I'm not going to repeat myself. Raj Changela 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2006 Norman, I'll be in KL between Nov 11th and 18th. How long the other runway is closed for? Would you say prevailing winds dictate the use for 14 more than 32 in November? My trip is already booked but if I will be missing out a lot due to closed rwy than maybe this trip I'll put in more days @ WSSS and I'll need to plan a re-visit in next 6 months there . I am really excited to visit KL for first time and get some great local flavor of aviation scene. BTW thanks for some nice map and directions. It will come handy for us non locals.
