A dab of Red

Recommended Posts

I notice that planes are progressively being painted with the tip of their (?) fairings on wings with red paint. And from a.net pics, looks like SQ's first A380 will also have the bottom bit of its winglets also similarly painted.

Anyone can confirm what is the purpose ?

And is this likely to be an industry standard in time to come ?

Nope, at the very least Nippon Cargo Airline's 744F's have the red tips.

(My first point of reference, my 1:400 version. Then checked on a.net ! :) )

Better visibility...anti collision by ground vehicle... :pardon:

Fokker 70/100 have this at the right-hand wing inner-fairing as well, where all the loading and unloading is done...
