Radzi 2 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 Here is the latest info on MASWings. MASWings, Malaysia's first commuter airline will officially take to the skies on 1 October 2007. This subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines will initially commence operations with 4 Fokker-50 and 4 Twin Otter aircraft to serve a network of 23 destinations in Sarawak and Sabah as well as the Federal Territory of Labuan. Another 3 Fokker-50 and 1 Twin Otter aircraft will join MASWings effective 28 October 2007 and by 1 December 2007 the new airline will have a fleet of 8 Fokker-50 and 5 Twin Otter aircraft to provide an average of 113 weekly F50 flights and 80 weekly Twin Otter flights. MASWings will be using the same booking system of parent company Malaysia Airlines and flights will use the Malaysia Airlines prefix MH followed by a four-digit flight number. S V Choong 4 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 Rejoice, rejoice 8x Fokker F-50s and 5x Twotter is that the same as the number of aircraft MAS used to own? Hope we can see what the livery is like soon.
BC Tam 2 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 Rejoice, rejoice Umm... SV, I thought you might have exhibited a bit more discretion; we have yet to see/experience what the 'new' offering may prove to be in Oct Having said that, there are some who are convinced things cannot possibly get any worse than the current scenario

Compare to the current situation, it seems to be indicating a slight improvement if not a vast one. I was a tad disappointed with FAX when I tried to book a flight with them last year (when I met you and et al in KK) and the booking system is an absolute disgrace to begin with in terms of connectivity. Radzi 2 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 I'm quite sure MASWings will operate from T1 of BKI. Good connectivity to MH, bad for AK. Always a problem with two terminals so far apart.
Chan CS 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 I know. Compare to the current situation, it seems to be indicating a slight improvement if not a vast one. I was a tad disappointed with FAX when I tried to book a flight with them last year (when I met you and et al in KK) and the booking system is an absolute disgrace to begin with in terms of connectivity.Well SV I have different view with you in term of booking with both airlines. What I experienced with AK's website is always better (well not in connectivity but the ease to navigate, and respond rate), unlike MH's website which always slow in action, and the price is not up to date (when booking with connection flight), and also hard to navigate as compared with AK's system. But in terms of performance, I agree with you.I do beleive MH will perform a lot more better than D7. Well just guts feeling. Well MAS used to operate those fokker for years...Oh btw, MAS used to have more then 8 fokker last time, if not mistaken is 10. Maybe Adrian can justify this.I'm quite sure MASWings will operate from T1 of BKI. Good connectivity to MH, bad for AK. Always a problem with two terminals so far apart.Well I'm quite sure that MASWings will operate from T1 as well. But I have a question, isn't MASWings a budget airline as well? Isn't they supposed to operate from T2? Just wondering...

Fair dinkum. I guess I never had the opportunity to book MAS flight over the internet. For AK, they will have to be quite superior with their internet booking as that is the main business activity. I hope so...since it's a full service airline just that the operating costwill be borned by the government...Moreover, Im sure soon the KKIA T2 wil be at full capacity in view of the increase in frequencies by AK. Adrian M 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 (edited) Yup Chan, MAS used to operate 10 F50s, 2 of them went to FY, 7 of them went to FAX, -MGJ is the loner grounded at SZB for a year now. Livery wise....better to hv full MH livery but with MASWings as name or just a small sticker below the cockpit window written "Operated by MASWings". Save time anyway. Do anyone know MASWings HR under MAS KL or at BKI/MYY? Edited August 10, 2007 by Adrian M
Rozhan 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 (edited) I hope MAS wings will continue the great RAS services which it momentarily passed on to FAX. BTW, I flew to Limbang 8 Aug on Twin Otter. Took off half hour early coz everyone was around, therefore arrived half hour early as well. Back to Miri on F50, and on time. My first and probably last rides on FAX has been most pleasant. The planes are doing good for MAS to take over. Was on MDO and MGC. Edited August 10, 2007 by Rozhan
Kenneth T 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2007 Well, I once flew MAS Fokker 50 back in 2004 and the ride was a pleasant one, not to mention that delay is at minimum at those days

BC Tam 2 Report post Posted August 11, 2007 ATR is for Firefly Despite your well documented affection for the Dutch ladies, they are due for replacement eventually by the Franco-Italian lasses. Sad, but then ......
