Zurich Unique airport and Swiss Skyguide visit

Recommended Posts

Jess, it was nice meeting you unexpectedly at the meet yesterday :pardon:

As you could have seen in my siggy previously, there was an A.net meet at ZRH on 02jun07, with visits to the airport and ATC facilities. Although the weather was quite bad (low viz and heavy downpours at times), the visit was quite successful and very educative, especially on the Swiss ATC part of the programm.

Below, I want to share with you, a small impression of what passed my Darkside lens; hopefully, Jess will add some of his shots later

Because of saturday, this airline is not allowed to operate, and this eyebrowless 738 was parked at the gate for the whole day. Can anyone 'translate' the name for me ? :p

Helvetic is operating these very colourful Fokker 100's within Europe and the Mediterranean region; the co-pilot really enjoyed our presence and even opened the window to wave to us A.netters :yahoo:

ZRH02jun2007018.jpg

ZRH is a hub for flights to the former Yugoslavia, with aircraft seen out of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and also this very colourful CRJ900 of Macedonia:

Was trying to do some panning shot of this German ATR-72 taking-off from runway 28:

ZRH02jun2007063.jpg

We spent about 1 hour at the crossing of runways 16-34/10-28; here are some (panning) take-off shots again, because of the poor light conditions and sometimes heavy rainfall:

Runway 28 take-offs:

Air Berlin F-100:

Star-Alliance/Swiss RJ100:

Blue1 RJ85:

Runway 14 take-offs:

Swiss Airbus A340:

Continental B757-200w:

Singapore B777-300:

Than, it was off to the Skyguide building, where I was able to shoot this "Mana EK" A340 runway 14 take-off:

Radar room:

Sector East where the left lady is a trainee and the right lady the instructor:

Hope, you've enjoyed this small impression, despite the bad quality pictures :sorry:

Sam,

This was a different group and a regular airport-tour, which only stops there for 10-15 mins while we were able to spot for 1 hour, thanks to the special A.net arrangements :good: But, yes, it's the same spot !!!

OK, guys, will see if I can upload some more pictures, but Photobucket quite slow, even for me, so please bear with me, OK ? :pardon:

OK, will add 10 more, but, please, excuse the bad quality, due to the wet weather conditions :(

Wanna know how the Thai 'seal' looks like in detail, on all the TG aircraft ? :

C-GHLU departing for Toronto:

ZRH02jun2007021.jpg

Some more wingtip vortices as shown by this Swiss A340:

ZRH02jun2007033.jpg

Which Helvetic colours do you prefer, the old- or new one ? :

ZRH02jun2007059.jpg

Like said before, plenty of airlines from the former Yugoslavia; here's a Croatia ATR42:

ZRH02jun2007060.jpg

and a Montenegro Fokker F100:

ZRH02jun2007068.jpg

Air One came in with this surprising CRJ900:

ZRH02jun2007071.jpg

Here the TG A340-600 is heading for much better climes; you should hear the roar of those engines !!! Fabulous :yahoo: :

ZRH02jun2007103.jpg

Intersky was operating from nearby Austria (note the special Pink sticker):

It was all fantastic photos! Enjoyed every single bits of it! Anymore pics inside the ATC room? :pardon:

Anyway I have a question, why is the EL Al restricted to operated on Saturday? For security reason again? It is just Saturday or Sunday as well?
