KK Lee 5 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Most pax are willing to pay premium for shorter and convenient journey time. Hence, newer aircraft fly further. Most of KUL/SYD and KUL/BNE sector pax are transit to/from Europe and South Asia. Non stop flight from SYD to LHR is expected within the next few years. By Stopping over at BNE, add 2 hour 25 minutes to MH140 journey time from SYD to KUL, and KUL to BNE. Wonder how could MH attract premium pax and how much it will impact the yield on kangaroo route by this backward step. Bet my 2 cents Europeans who happened to travel on MH140 will only travel to Down under on MH again if MH offer exceptionally cheap fare, and the yield on kangaroo route will be poor for many years to come. Keith T 2 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Apparently the SYD flights were underperforming, whereas the BNE flights were doing very well. The triangulated flights appear to be designed to use BNE to prop up SYD operations.
