Turkish Airlines Returned to Kuala Lumpur from 25 April 2013; Twice Daily from 31 May 2016

Recommended Posts

They're pretty much a Turkish version of EK, with narrowbodies. Pretty much every airport in Europe and Africa with a runway has TK service.

I lost track on how many new destinations TK has launched this year. I can only recall:

Ankara to

  1. Moscow
  2. Dusseldorf
  3. Frankfurt
  4. Vienna
  5. Baku
  6. Brussels
  7. London
  8. Tehran
  9. Amsterdam.
Istanbul Ataturk to
  1. Miami
  2. Johannesburg – Maputo
  3. Johannesburg –Durban
  4. Zaporizhia
  5. Abuja
  6. Bamako
  7. Conakry
  8. Juba
  9. Istanbul – Port Louis - Antananarivo
In 2016, Turkish Airlines will begin flying directly from Ankara to Atlanta, Berlin, Hamburg, Koln, Stuttgart, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Paris.
In 2017, flights will go from Ankara to Munich, Batumi, Arbil, Bagdad and Jeddah.

IST to MGQ (Mogadishu) via JIB (Djibouti) anyone?

Wherever there is Turkish government presence/interest in that particular country, TK will put efforts to realizing flights there.

How to find out which stations served with which type of aircraft?

I'm quite interested in finding out where their B777 and B737NG goes to.

Capt Radzi, are you asking for TK flights?

Meanwhile, A380s must be wait for new 3rd "mega" airport, because of there no parking slot in IST anymore....even for baggage carts! They are living parking slots problem with new B777s also.

New airport setting up for more parking slots and capable for A380. But I'm not sure they can be fill up the A380 as profitable even TK growing up at least %20 percent every year. Latest report says TK crossed 50million passanger limit in a year. GM of Turkish Airlines says that; "the target is grow up in Africa section".

..... it's just a matter of time before they launch IST-KBR/JHB/TGG/AOR/SDK/MYY.

..... then MYY-IST direct non-stop ? :)

Not really surprising considering the low winter season. However couple weeks ago I made the trip to IST and it was 100% full, with economy overbooked.

Return sector IST-KUL however was relatively empty, with only about 7 people in biz.

Nice. Did KUL-IST recently in A333 (or A332?). It was overbooked. Lots of pax got upgraded from Y to J.

That said, IST-KUL was relatively empty with only about 6 people in J and many in Y who got the whole row to themselves to sleep.

With upcoming code sharing between TK and OD, to get full load on B777 or increase in frequency should be no problem.

TK did not sign a code-sharing agreement with OD. They signed an interline/SPA agreement - different from a code-share.

e.g. - The following routing is permitted for a simple KUL-PEN:

1. IST-BJS/HKG/SHA-CA/CX/FM/KA/MU-PEN

2. IST-KUL/SIN-3K/OD-PEN

That just means passengers have the option of flying from Istanbul to Penang via KUL (along with SIN/BJS/HKG/SHA) but KUL-PEN must be on OD instead of MH.

And for PER:

1. IST-KUL/SIN-3K/OD-PER

On a side note, 19 of Turkish Airlines's total fleet have not flown for more than two days.

They just parked seven A330-223 for interim storage: TC-JIP, TC-JIR, TC-JIS, TC-JIT, TC-JIV, TC-JIY, TC-JIZ. All are ex-TAM Linhas Aéreas frames.

A fleet of B77W, B738NG, A319/A320 are grounded.

All A343 are grounded for good.
