Seng Lim 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 From the pics it seems the air pollutions in Bangkok was pretty bad. While Samui & Phuket have much cleaner and clearer air.

Pieter C. 5 Report post Posted March 25, 2007 Love all your shots; so much more different than the 'boring' AMS traffic The Bangkok Air A320's remind me of the CDG shots (with the ATC tower in the rear): good photo-spot These landing shots are taken from inside the Teminal ? Chaity 1 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 Hi Cornelis, glad that you enjoy your trip in KUL. I was unable to meet you as I was "down and out" for past 2 weeks from flu.

As I got carried away by Airport Security! The drove me in their car to my hotel, I had no other choice then making pictures from behind the glass. This was the highest floor of my hotel with view on APP. Relaxing, airconditioning and my room close so I could get cold drinks BUt it took a lot of quality away from my pics.. But the fact they drove me away wasnt really cool. The needed copy op pasport escorted me into the hotel which not really pleased the manager. There were 2 hotel managers making notes infront of my room Well... airport security escorting a guest back to his room is not really looking customer friendly is it? And because of those gents I missed the orange Qatar A333. But one day later it was again in BKK. And nailed her then
Teoh Z Yao 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 That was bad, Cornelis! Was it the last day you in K that this happened? I'd never heard of such incident. How did they treat you? Were they abusive? Did they ask why you've been up there so many times?
Teoh Z Yao 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2007 KUL is really beautiful at night! Thanks sharing the night shots, Cornelis!

There were 2 hotel managers making notes infront of my room Well... airport security escorting a guest back to his room is not really looking customer friendly is it? What a shame! I haven't had any problems around the airport yet, but I'm pretty sure they'll get me one of these days... I really don't understand what the problem is with standing somewhere and enjoying the action at the airport. I mean, Don Muang was a military facility, sure, but Suvarnabhumi? And there are many Thais as well who like to look at the aircraft. This airport is supposed to be a new pride for Thailand and its people, and yet they are not allowed to enjoy it? A bit cruel, especially as most Thais will never be able to fly, even with the very low fares offered by Nok etc. Anyway, glad you were still able to take pics from the hotel, I was wondering whether it offered possibilities. And they're not bad at all!

And they're not bad at all! First of all they treated me normal. Nothing weird really. Second.. lots of locals people stopped their car parking on the road to have a view over the airporttarmacs and the RWY 19L departures. But they all got send away by traffic police or airport security. They were not allowed to stop there or observing aircraft. To bad. Well I was happy with the place in my hotel. Managed to get all the Nok Air 737. Now I've heard there is a new Nok 734 in Subang hangar, so I have to get back someday I got all the BK Airways B717s, A320s, and all the ATR except the -PGA. And further I only missed the Drukair A319 (lease for BK Air), I've seen her a couple of times but no good opportunities for a picture. But I got lots and lots other superb machines passing by, so I cant complain about one or two aircraft!
Kwek 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2007 (edited) You got carried away by security?? Looks like they are no longer spotter friendly, quite unlike the situation when the airport first opened. I was there in Feb during the "high alert" period and noticed that security has been stepped up due to some threats. Lots of patrol cars every 10 minutes, including those operated by police and AOT. According to the locals, cars can no longer stop on the roads in the vicinity of the airport. Notices are put up along the entire stretch of the perimeter road as well, including the other lane as well. Spotting from the ramp onto the highway is no longer permitted, even to those on foot. This roads are within the airport jurisdiction and are considered private property. The view from the hotel room looks interesting though. Perhaps I will explore that option on the next visit there. What was your room number? Here the link to some pics of aircraft I took there: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.sear...ine_version=6.0 Edited March 27, 2007 by Kwek
Cornelis Boersma 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2007 Good shots! I had room pfff 2306. But no view to the APP. There are rooms who have good views. But I believe that are the most expensive rooms in a hotel where the cheapest rooms are very expensive already! I believe it was AOT which brought me back to my hotel.
