Thanks for high quality pics in LGK ............ Superb job !!!....... :good:

Re:

some photos of my beloved Su-30MkM. She might be russian and unreliable but she is one true beauty in the skies.

Su30 is just like any other western block jets and as reliable as others. However, in our environment, there are too many people (cronies) wanted to eat the same slice of pie at highly inflated price, be it in aircraft maintenance, supply of spares, ordnance etc ........ Certainly it inflate cost/hour operation compare to other jets. E.g, MiG29 ....... everyone in frontline (guys who directly operating the a/c) know the cost analysis and implication but certainly their figure is different from what been presented to people up there.

F/A-18 is a different case as it falls under 'FMS' or Foreign Military Sales agreement by the govt of USA. Under FMS, the govt of Malaysia have to abide to certain rules which involves almost every aspect, right from purchasing, operating, maintaining and upgrading the aircraft. No doubt there are a few slices of pie could be handed out to cronies but not as bad as other type of jets.

How reliable is a piece of machine very much depending on how much budget one has. If properly spent, it could be as reliable as any other jets.

LGK should be quite safe shouldn't it? Got a long runway to play with before deciding if a go around is necessary.

Yup, but the long stretch is like in the middle of ocean. Very expose to strong winds, and everything.

Like the Firefly by the building.

By the way, does anyone know when next year's LIMA would be? Or even an estimate of the date? Planning to make a trip there.

Thanks

Think I can help out on this one............... I was on Pantai Cenang on the 14th, and saw the same aircraft as you, as my photo shows this aircraft moving from a different direction, I guess you must have been on Rebak Marina.

The aircraft was N188TL Citiation C680 belonging to the Wells Fargo Bank Northwest, and was one of at least 3 of their jets to visit Langkawi during December.

Happy New Year to all MWingers around the globe.

I have been spending another family Xmas holiday on the stunning island of Langkawi and would like to post a few 'holiday' snaps, starting with a couple of the residents....

Wells Fargo are the go-to bank for many aircraft transactions in the United States - particularly foreign aircraft owners who want their aircraft have an N-number/registration (which can actually lead to increased resale value given the strict FAA regulations that are imposed). Whilst this aircraft may be registered to Wells Fargo, it is no doubt operated for a very wealthy firm/individual with no connection (beyond financial) with Wells Fargo themselves. There is over 6300 aircraft registered in Utah, a large proportion if not the majority will be in someway connected to Wells Fargo

Many thanks Peter for the info on Wells Fargo, their name does seem to crop up a lot in the aviation world.

Unfortunately my previous post (on 1st Jan) terminated prematurely when I tried to 'preview' to see if the image had loaded correctly. So here is the rest....................
