Canon EF 100-400mm L IS USM. I was quite surprised how little sharpening required. If i sharpen using the usual setting, it would look over-sharpening with jagged edge. It's running out of stock as far as I know in Perth as I had called a few shops to inquire about the lens. Long waiting list. Price will increase a few hundred dollars come this 15 DEC due to the exchange rate adjustment.

Congrats Kianhong with your new weapon. Sharp, sharp! :clapping:

:D Worth waiting for more than 2 weeks.

Need time to get used to the heavy weight n push-pull zoom. Definitely sharp sharp at all focal length n aperture. :yahoo:

A little drama at Jandakot today.

Piper Navajo (VH-WDR) was unable to extend its main gears and did a belly landing with only 20mins endurance left. Exceptional landing by this pilot as far as belly landing go. :good:

Only nose gear was down, no main gears in sight.

VH-WDR_YPJT_071208.jpg

Following is a sequence of the belly landing. Impressive! Text book belly landing.

Emergency vehicles surrounded the stricken aircraft.

Good sequence pictures, Kianhong :drinks: :good:

Switched off the engines as soon as practicable...no damage to props :yahoo:

Excellent landing by this pilot; guess, he had some sweaty hand-palms :pardon:

Not everyday, but at least a few times within a year. Usually false alarm. Btw, this is the first time i see a belly landing.

Thanks Pieter. Prolly he was lucky to have the nose gear to keep the nose up, thus no props strike. But a very expensive polish under the belly. Btw, he was flying alone, single pilot ops and 1 POB. Amazing to hear how calm he was over the radio. Kudos to him for a gentle touch down. :good:

BTW, FTZ is one of the 2 Lancair IV to be based in Jandakot. The other would be the metallic grey OPR. These plane can fly up to 240kts and the interior is damn posh! B)

Some shots from the 23rd Jan 2009.

RFDS's first PC-12NG (VH-OWP) in action too.

VH-OWP_YPJT_230109.jpg

After disappearing over the winter/spring period, fire bombers returned to fight bush fire from YPJT.

From this angle, this Air Tractor 802 remind me of the android robots from one of Hayao Miyazaki's animation - Laputa: Castle in the Sky. :pardon:

VH-EDG_YPJT_230109.jpg

These aircrafts can carry up to 2500 liters of water.

Egg capsule ... :D

VH-CTD_YPJT_230109.jpg

Low approach for banner towing... always a joy and amazed by the way it hooked the banner from the ground.

VH-BFY_YPJT_230109.jpg

CZ's Citation Bravo departed too.

Thanks for viewing. Cheers.

Happy Australia Day and Happy Chinese New Year.
